The Loop: A Ring-Shaped TV Remote Control

by Sze | Filed under Funny

The Loop is a ring-shaped remote control that lets you navigate by pointing at movie icons on the TV screen, rather than by scrolling and clicking through listings. By tracking user’s movemnt in the air via sensor, the device can translate hand motion into cursor movements on the screen.

The technology behind the Loop was created by Hillcrest Labs, a Rockville, Md., company founded in 2001. Although it has attracted funding from firms such as New Enterprise Associates, it has not landed deals with consumer electronics makers until now.
