NotebookReview has reviewed the Samsung NP-X60plus Notebook PC. The Samsung NP-X60plus is powered by an Intel Core 2Duo T7200 2GHz Processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 120GB of SATA HardDrive, ATI X1700 GPU with 256MB DDR2 RAM, a 8X DVD multi-writer with Lightscribe.

The laptop has a 15.4-inch  “SuperClear” glossy WSXGA+ screen with resolution of 1680 x 1050 and it supports Bluetooth2.0+EDR, WiFi. For connectivity, it has  3 USB 2.0, a 4 pin Firewire, Gigabit network (RJ45), VGA, SVHS, a PC card slot type 1 or 2 and a 5 in 1 media card slot.

NotebookReview says:

The X60plus should be on the shortlist of anyone looking for a powerful but lightweight 15.4” widescreen computer (subject to the regional availability constraints)…. At present, my disappointment is that power consumption is slightly higher than the old X60…Once I had adjusted the display dpi setting and enabled ClearType everything became much clearer. The change in text quality is similar to the jump from 150 dpi dot matrix to 300dpi inkjet or laser printers.

Pros

* A lightweight (just over 2.5kg / 5.5lb) 15.4” notebook
* Solid and rigid construction
* High quality and high resolution display
* Good audio volume and quality
* The hard disk stays cool
* PC Card slot for backwards compatibility

Cons

* The standard 6 cell battery running time is less than 3 hours at light load
* More fan activity than the previous X60 (may be attributable to the more powerful GPU)
* The power supply is excessively heavy for a lightweight notebook
* The touchpad could be bigger
* The left palm rest gets quite warm
* Touchpad / driver not sensitive enough for the high resolution display
