Hey All,

The problems are with the start up and discharge 1000 Microfarad capacitors on your power supply. Open up the TV and I'll be 3 to 5 of the capacitors are leaking. Check out this YouTube video to learn how to diagnose and replace those caps. This is courtesy of Gonefishin09.

Enjoy.

David,
Great idea. I recently thought it would be nice to post a U Tube video. But, I do not foresee taking mine back apart to video the repair. I have to many other honey-do's at at the moment.

Charlie, if you need help, let me know. I am thinking of putting together a manual to explain step by step how to do it, with pictures. I was a little afraid of the job, but it was easier than I thought.

FOLLOW UP.
Many, if not all issues have been resolved by replacing the caps, or replacing the power supply board.

One Poster discovered his TV with a similar problem. But the TV was a (Samsung HP-T4254). He found a poor solder at a transistor. Purchased a new card and found the same problem. He touched it up with a solder iron and back in business. The set would also click and not turn on. But, the board could be flexed, making contact with the transistor, and the set would turn on. This also eventually blew the transistor all together. If you experience this problem, let me know and I'll send a pic showing the transistor location.

Poster can let me know if I translated the scope properly.

FOLLOW UP
While many, if not all, have the same power supply, have resolved the problem by replacing the caps, and some by replacing the power supply.

One poster had a different TV (Samsung HP-T4254)and found poor soldering on a transistor. The TV would turn on and off at times, specifically when the board was flexed. But would act the same while off by clicking without ever turning on. Let me know if you have this issue and I will email you a pic showing the transistor location.

I've had a Samsung LNS 5296D LCD for just under 2-yrs. The set will not power-up. The Samsung service rep. confirmed that it is leaking caps in the power supply, which as noted is a common problem. The set has now been down for 1-month, as the service comapny cannot locate a replacement power supply. The set was on the wall, but is now lying on the living room floor, as it's too heavy to keep lifting on and off the wall. I'd replace the failed cap's myself, but the set is covered by an extended warranty from Visa and I dont want to invalidate it. This is my last Samsung product.

I pulled the back off and decided to try and solder the capacitors in myself (from Radioshack). When I got done, it worked!

I've got the same problem. It's now taking 15 minutes for the tv to turn on. Samsung won't do anything since the tv is 15 months old. Where did you purchase the power board?

Pam,
The issue has been resolved. I removed the back of the TV (pretty easy actually) by laying a blanket over the kitchen table and placing the TV face down. I started with the power supply as an obvious beginning. Both fuses on the board tested fine. And touched up every solder joint with a hot soldering iron in case the problem was a cold solder joint. After this painstaking venture, I performed another visual inspection and noticed a capacitor that had a thin black X on the top of the can. This is a common sign the capacitor has over heated. I located a replacement for $1.20, installed, and successfully powered up the TV. I have had no problems since.
Oh, yeah, I also paid $120 for a BN44-00150A replacement power supply, plus overnight shipping. It actually arrived three weeks later. That was two weeks and six days after I fixed the power supply myself.
Feel free to email me if you would be interested in the power supply, or more information to fix the set yourself. I will part with the power supply at half price if it will help you.

Our Samsung LNT 5265F is having the same problems, unfortunately, the tv is two months out of warranty. Has your problem been resolved, if so, what was the solution?

Purchased my LN32A330, 32" widescreen in June '08, 720p. I noticed it was slow to turn on but thought it maybe it was normal for this product. Last night, I turned it off before bed and it will not come on anymore. My wife told me the green light blinks once, no picture, no sound. It's always been plugged into a surge protect and has been taken care of. Will see what Samsung says.

Two weeks ago, my LN-T5265F started taking longer and longer to turn on. The power light comes on and off and clicks during the process. It was recently taking up to two hours before it would turn on. Now, it will not come on at all. I have not called Samsung yet because I fear bursting a vein when they tell me there is nothing they can do because the set is now 13 months old. What a waste of $3K. Any suggestions to work around this issue? I am an electronic technician and am considering opening it up.
