Sharp shows 1/2.5-inch 8.28 Megapixel CCD sensor

Sharp shows us its 1/2.5-inch 8.28 Megapixel CCD sensor which is probably the world’s smallest. Sharp is “using the 1.75 μm x 1.75 μm pixel cell, which is claimed as is the industry’s smallest class,” to make it. The smaller CCD sensor means we are going to get smaller mobile devices.
it plans to start shipping the 10- x 10- x 3.5-millimeter sample packages later next week, while volume production of the ¥4,000 ($33) sensors are scheduled
