CECT P168 - iPhone Clone

You probably have heard of the Meizu MiniOne, which is an Apple iPhone clone (though the specification is better). Here is another iPhone clone from China, the CECT P168.
The CECT P168 looks really like the iPhone, even the wallpaper has been copied. The CECT P168 has a 3.5-inch QVGA LCD touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel camera (actual resolution: 1.3 Megapixel). It has integrated music player, video player, dictionary.
The CECT P168 has two SIM card slot, unfortunately you can’t use the two SIMs at the same time but have to switch between them.

Dear Sir
I buy from china the p168 phone with blutooth -double camera-touch screen…etc two months ago and suddenly stop working and it switch off by him self and switch on by himself and if I remove the SIM from the phone it works correctly and when I put the SIM in the phonr it doesn’t work.
How can I fix this problem and did u have any technical repair for these cellphones here in Egypt.

I have a CECT P168. I live in Southern California. This is the best phone I have ever had. It works on the 3 carriers I tried it with: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Iv’e had this phone for 5 weeks now with NO problems. The photos are as good as any other phone out there. The videos are, well from a cel phone! What do you want Hollywood quality? They are fine for whatever video you would take with a cel phone. I am waiting for 5 more to be delivered. Better get these before Apple does!

Chirwa if you purchased the latest CECT P168 it should work on North American sims. So just take your sim card out of your current phone and put it into your CECT

hey guys i just got me CECT P168 today and it works good but how do i switch my network to AT&T when i put my sim in, it said no service but the phone still works great just can’t call or text anyone… how to i switch my network? i go to network selection and i see that AT&T is listed but i can’t switch it. when i try and switch the priority from 2 to 1 it says unfinished… how to i switch it?

Hey Carlo, has your problem with this phone resolved ? I have the same problem, I can call but cannot receive call, the phone will restart.
I return it to the seller and they said it work fine with their network, they claim is my network’s problem. But I use Rogers, i am sure most ppl use this phone in Canada, uses Rogers or fido. so I cannot see that its my network’s problem.

Cect p-168 is a piece!! Won’t work right with my friends cingular or my cellular one and we have the quadband versions! He loses signal all the time and i can’t receive calls correctly. Don’t waste your money.

It’s NOT the phone. I have T-Mobile and AT&T (Cingular) and have had no problems what so ever. The phone is better than I expected. Just because you have problems, don’t knock the phone. Have either of you tried another carrier?

My supplier is sending another phone back to me. But I suspect if the firmware is not wompatable with rogers, I will have the same shutdown when receive call issue.

No one can tell me how to connect to the internet with this phone. I have a smart phone internet account package through AT&T or cingular. They weren’t able to help. The phone manufacture does not have a contact number or internet site that I can find. The phone doesn’t want to shut off using the key pad. The center key pad does not seem to be functioning. The manual that shipped with this phone is for a different model. Ebay sellar has not replied.

I just got mine from ChinaGrabber and it is BETTER than the p168… it is the Digitalrise D718i iPhone, has several more features and comes with silicone case, travel pouch, lanyard strap, and most importantly an ENGLISH manual (did some research and the cect clone has not english).. there are probably many more places but the thing is that most of them don’t have a manual, and are not very good quality - it pays in the long-run to go with a reliable source over a cheap source… i would definitely go with an American company that provides adequate accessories like manual, and extra accessories. DigitalRise D718i looks like it has the most functions of all of the iphone clones so I’d probably have to recommend:

can anyone tell me if the phone uses microsoft outlook for the calendar and contacts and tasks, etc? that is my main concern. while i do take my computer with me to court there are times when it would be easire to pull out the phone and not wait for the computer bootup, and add in a few new court dates. the iphone is to darn expensive and the software is not compatable.
and does it have wi-fi abilities? that is not a deal breaker but it would be nice.

carlo and solo i had the same problem. i took an older roger sim card from a friend and tried it. next thing i know the phone works fine. the problem is rogers upgraded their sim cards (version 4000)and they dont work well with the cect. you need to find an older sim card(version 3040). have rogers transfer your info from the card you have now to the older version 3040 sim card. you will find these numbers on your card.i had also tried a fido sim card and the phone worked perfect. good luck..

IMPORTANT…READ!!! DO NOT FORMAT YOUR SD CARD WHILE IT’S IN YOUR PHONE
Take the card OUT OF YOUR PHONE then format it with the adapter IN YOUR COMPUTER. If you format it in your camera, you will lose half the capacity. 2 gigs will be 985.XX gigs and so on.

You must use the touch screen.
During a call, there is green image showing in the middle position near the bottom of the lcd display, which resembles a telephone. Use your finger or the stylus to click on it and you will get the dialing pad.

No, you cannot use it in US if your phone only supports 900/1800MHz. It must support 1900MHz for At&T and T-Mobile. I bought a P168 from http://www.bluelans.com and it is a real tri-band cell phone.

I wish to know for those who has their P168 working and for those who doesn,t>? My question is for those who does? Do they have the right country and time setting and GSM provider list in their phone already? I live in Toronto, Canada however my phone doesn’t seems to have “Toronto” list in the country region setting, it has only Vancouver and Montreal but not Toronto…I wonder if it is why my phone is not progam to work in toronto>? to MAy, If your phone asks for a NSP code that means your phone is locked. I recently bought one and had the same problem. I contacted china and they said phone was locked. So i returned it and they sent me a new phone. The new phone works great. this is a Tri-band phone, it should work automatically once u put your sim card in with any network code.

THIS PHONE IS GREAT! Those that have problems need to read the instruction book, have a WORKING sim card, and take a little time to get to know the phone. Most of the problems that are being posted here seem NOT TO BE PROBLEMS, but people trying to use a phone that they have no idea how to use. You MUST have paid for your sim card, either Pay as You Go or contract. Make sure you have PAID for DATA service before trying to set up your WAP internet. Know how to use the stylus. Set up your cameras specifications, be in an area OR country that lets you use this phone, etc, etc. Just because a few of you can’t get your phone to work, don’t assume others can’t. Saying this phone is garbage is like saying a car is garbage because you don’t like the way it handles. Give this phone a try, make sure it’s compatable with your cell company and/or country and learn all about it’s features. If you do that you will say this is the best phone (pda) you have ever had! ***I DO NOT SELL THESE PHONES OR HAVE ANY CONNECTION WITH THEM OTHER THAN BEING A HAPPY OWNER.** I DO OWN A REAL iPhone, but THE P168 BEATS IT IN ALMOST EVERY WAY. i just got the CECT P168 it is a cool phone. a lot better price than the iphone. i was hoping someone could answer a question. i put in my cingular sim card and it works great. it shows at&t cingular ans the carrier, and sends and recieves call fine. however the roaming icon is displayed at the top of the phone. does someone know if this means the phone is roaming?

Another question for ‘joe’ who posted on Sept. 23. My SIM card has the numbers 8930, 2720, 3030, 0297, 1456 (top to bottom). Which number is the version that I have? If I assume it is 3030, then it should be older than the 4000 and even the 3040, but still I cannot receive any calls. If anyone else can help, that would be great.

I cant send or receive MMS but SMS works just fine. The manual states that in order for MMS to function you must set the phone to GPRS. I did that and it still doesnt work. Can anyone help, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE?

after doing about an hour of researching this phone on the net and getting know where i did the smart thing called my damn provider and i found out the fallowing:
You can not change the sim just by putting a new one in. you must call the provider you want and have the phone activated with that company.
the reason the phone frezes on you is because the new soft wear installed on the phone is steal prof. if you do not have it activated with your sim card from the company you want it with it will frez.
There is not a problem with the phone itself. They got smart and installed a anti theft program.

I have had this phone for about 2 weeks now, and I feel it is a great product. I can pretty much answer any and all the questions I have read above. I know a few extra tricks that aren’t mentioned above as well — i.e. how you can convert you mp3 to ring tones easily. I do have one question for anyone out there - How do i get the phone to work with t-mobile’s internet? I can not send picture mail nor connect to the open web. Other then question, I love the product. The alarm in this phone can wake the dead. lol Also the best way to appreciate this phone is to set your shortcut keys to your preference. Matt it sounds like you are out of your home cell range. If you are Tmo then your old phone probably would switch between Tmo and AT&T (cingular)(or another GSM service) towers when it could not get Tmo. This is one of the things I am worried about getting this phone. I have a BlackBerry now and I can switch between Tmo and several different carriers so I almost ALWAYS have service. Does anybody know how well it works on Tmo and does it switch back and forth or roam ok. Also with the internet issues, I had just switched BB’s and I had the same issue. I had to call Tmo and they sent down the “Service Books”. Once that was done it worked perfect on Tmo but no GPRS on AT&T only GSM, not even gprs.

I feel like I’m beating my head against a wall. I have Suncom and I can’t get internet. I don’t have China Mobile, I have Suncom. I see people asking but not gettin any responses. This phone is cool and I pay Suncom for unlimited internet but cannot get on. Can anyone help?

try coverting to mp4 format or try wmv this usually works then connect your phone to pc and transfer it to your sim card under the video option there you go or put your igb sim in your pc and do the same

Mike, I have Suncom as well and the only thing I can think of to get the internet service to wk is to take the phone and sim card to a Suncom retailer and ask them to format the phone. This should wk. Had the problem before with a phone that wasn’t supported by Suncom and after they formatted it, it was fine.

cect p168 phone it’s a great phone but i can’t seem to load any videos it keeps teling me invalid video file.I tried using the cect file encoder for mp4 but still nothing anyone have a solutionto this problem? the phone will record video and take pictures but when i try to load videos that are mp4 it will not play it it just says invalid video file! and thats it!? so please if anyone knows why this is happening please let me know hit me at atlantic121@hotmail.com

Ladies and Gents AVI video files. You should also store them in the video folder not the video clip folder…. I work for t mobile and i will have the the solution for internet shortly. I hope:)

Also you can send texts just not photos for everyone who was asking about that problem. Until you can connect to internet thats all you can do.

i just got my i phone clone yesterday and i have AT&T and it always says that i have no service or just emergency. (emergency more than anything) does anyone know what i can do b/c i reallly want to use this phone and it says it works with AT&T! please help

just ordered the phone brand new and unlocked for any carrier. gotta be careful when ordering off ebay but so far i love the phone, no problems at all

You can only send text messages NOT VIDEO or PICTURE until you can connect to the internet,Due to the fact the phone is gsm and grps. You must have an online account to send those files…PERIOD Now for the music issue your phone must be shut off in order to function.Store the music files of course in music folder. And videos in the video folder. Not video clips those are for files you take with the camera function.
Hope this help out a lot of you. Also try turning the camera to a widescreen image just by one button when taking a pic or video. Its sweet:)

Hello all. Just got my cect p168 and I love it. I live in Alaska and phone works. I have the same problems tho with the internet and email. Anyone got any good downloadable stuff for this phone?
