CECT P168 - iPhone Clone
by Sze | Filed under Mobile Phone, Smartphone.
You probably have heard of the Meizu MiniOne, which is an Apple iPhone clone (though the specification is better). Here is another iPhone clone from China, the CECT P168.
The CECT P168 looks really like the iPhone, even the wallpaper has been copied. The CECT P168 has a 3.5-inch QVGA LCD touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel camera (actual resolution: 1.3 Megapixel). It has integrated music player, video player, dictionary.
The CECT P168 has two SIM card slot, unfortunately you can’t use the two SIMs at the same time but have to switch between them.

I have looked through this forum before I ask this. I see you have posted what to do for MMS setting for ATT and Cingular but I need it for Centennial. I have only sent out 1 MMS and I have 1 missed MMS that I am NOT able to retrieve. The inbox and outbox have NOTHING in them. I have tried. I have gone into settng and memory status and it says that all the space is used up and I have 0 Bytes left. When I try to send on it says again not enough MMS storage but then adds please delete some files. ?????? My phone is 2G. After downloading over 50 songs (full btw) and many wallpapers I still have like 1734 free space.
I have tried contacting several ppl on here who have left their e-mails, checking out every possible forum and I just can’t get any help. I even took it to Centennial and they couldn’t/wouldn’t help me.
Also, what is up with after I turn off my phone and power it back on it says quota usage warning and counts down from 10?

Jack - I agree with you 100% about these types of questions. I was only offering a place where settings could easily be found. I get very tired of the same questions over and over again.

“Jackman - I agree to an extent but this forum is hard to go through.”
Zydaglo, why bother going to college if we would be given the answers without having to do the groundwork for a test? Believe me, I had tons of questions about my phone before I bought it and after. I went through the thread at least twice and more afterwards for one simple reason: knowledge of my phone. Encouraging others to read through the thread may be hard to go through, I agree. Yet that is how a majority of us learn. We seek out the knowledge we need and, along the way, pick up more knowledge we didn’t think we’d need. Just like college.
I will keep stating that n00bs who come on and ask: “-Anyone know what operating system the phone runs on?
-Are there other web browser that can be used on the phone?
-When looking at photos on the viewer, does anyone know how to turn off the file name and buttons to rotate the photo so you can just see the photo with nothing over it?”
It gets old. These very questions were asked and answered above several times over. If they simply took the time to read this thread, learn tons about their phone, and find the answer they came here to look for, they should feel more fulfilled. Copy and paste into your own file on your computer and learn from it. At least that’s my dream.
Sorry to sound like Old Man Jack, Zy. Your experience and feedback are always welcomed here.

CECT P168 ******Please Help*****
Hi, I really appreciate this site! There seems to be very few resources for CECT phones online.
My son just bought a CECT P168 phone yesterday, and after putting his AT&T sim card in and trying to activate the phone, he was able to use it. It took about an hour though.
Apparently he found an option or button called FAST SIM and when he pressed it the phone powered down and now it won’t turn on!
Has anyone else run across this problem?
Also, do I need to call AT&T and have this phone activated to be able to use it?
This is frustrating, but I would like to be able to keep the phone instead of trying to return it.
you can email me at drewbru@comcast.net
thanks.

yeah hi, this may already have been asked, but I can’t find it anywhere, so I was wondering, how do you change the tone of the text to something other than silent of the ten given tones? (i.e. the music in the My Music folder etc.)
I know how to get the ‘ring tone,’ but I’m just confused as to how to change the text alert to, say, an uploaded file.
This may not be possible on this phone (cect p168) but it’s worth a shot.
okay, thanks!

Jackman - I agree to an extent but this forum is hard to go through. For most answers in a logical format, go to this site:
http://cectp168resources.blogspot.com/2008/03/how-to-configure-internet-and-mms-on.html
By the way the new P168C with both sim cards working is pretty cool and a new p168S is coming out as well with 3 buttons instead of 5 from the same manufacturer as the P168

Again, n00bs, please take the time to read up on this entire thread before you ask your questions. I am sure I speak for Bob and Zydaglo when we say it gets tiresome to answer the same question that has been asked AND answered a dozen times over. Sorry, but you have to read this whole thing just as we did. I read it twice to gather T-mobile and Vodafone info for people on here, and not for myself. If I can do that, then you can read the thread first.
Now then, that being said, let’s talk about something I have not read much about on this thread: Bluetooth devices. I recently purchased a Plantronics 220 device from WalMart for about $25 and I was surprised by many things. First off, I was surprised that it was so easy to set up! I had nightmares of when I had to set up my SMS and MMS. This was much easier. I just followed the instructions that came with the device and I was making and taking phone calls through the device like that (finger snap sound entered here).
What is cool is that all I have to do is turn on the device (let’s just call it BT from here on, OK?) and the phone lets me know that I am connecter via the BT. There are times when the BT won’t work and I have to slide-unlock the phone and then turn on the BT and it connects pretty easily.
I tried to hook it up so I can hear my mp3s on it, but I couldn’t figure it out and got impatient. In my line of work, listening to music through this instead of paying attention to my job does not lead to job longevity. That and I can only imagine what the sound quality is like. Oh well.
The biggest reason to get the BT is that out here in California, it is officially illegal to drive with a cell phone slammed against your head. YOU MUST have a hands-free device, despite the high number of cops themselves with a cell to their heads. So much for leading by example. I really wanted this because I was so fed up with juggling the cord that went into my phone, unplugging it, and waiting for the phone to go into black standby. If I unplugged the old headphones and just shoved the phone into my pocket, I would bump it enough that I would accidentally make a call or save 354 651646874654 into my phone book accidentally.
Freedom, baby! People say that we are douchebags for walking around with these things and looking like elitist snobs or whatever. Whatever… All I know is that I drive 75% of the time and having this in my ear is much safer with the hypocrite cops out here, and no more wires to mess with. When I get into the office, I simply turn off the BT and my phone reverts to normal. I hit the highway, I turn it back on and Voila! Good to go.
Go get one, people. It’s so worth it!

IC,
Thank you. I found a manual. And I figured out the keeypad by trial and error. Again thank you for yout time. By the way, how does one download music to the phone. I tried for about 1.5 hours with no success. Acctually I erased the 7 sample songs on there. That is not covered in the manual.

BTDT,
You have to touch the green phone icon while listening to your messages and then your keypad will re-appear. Then you can press the appropriate button to save or delete messages. As for the manual I’m sure someone on this site may be able to direct you. Try reading earlier threads. You may find it there.

Does anyone know where I can get a manual for the P168? When ever I retrieve my voice mail my key pad disappears and I am unable to delete my messages. Outside of that problem I love the phone.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
I just got my second P168 and I seem to be having a problem with it. I am in Germany and I use a T-mobile D sim. When I put the sim card in the phone it starts to search for the provider and then “emergency” mode. I have full signal, I have full Sim card access. I just can’t make or recieve calls. I have another P168 that I bought from the same company and both mine and my wifes sim works fine in it. But both do the same thing when I put them in the second phone. What do I do?
