CECT P168 - iPhone Clone
by Sze | Filed under Mobile Phone, Smartphone.
You probably have heard of the Meizu MiniOne, which is an Apple iPhone clone (though the specification is better). Here is another iPhone clone from China, the CECT P168.
The CECT P168 looks really like the iPhone, even the wallpaper has been copied. The CECT P168 has a 3.5-inch QVGA LCD touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel camera (actual resolution: 1.3 Megapixel). It has integrated music player, video player, dictionary.
The CECT P168 has two SIM card slot, unfortunately you can’t use the two SIMs at the same time but have to switch between them.

Bought CECT a88 smartphone off e-bay. Couldn’t get it to work with AT&T phone. Seller told me it would not work with 3G sims, of course after I bought it. Sold it and now buyer says he can’t get it to work with T-mobile. My daughter had T-mobile and it worked fine with her sims. Any suggestions??

Hi 958… u r most welcome! I love this phone and have explored it extensively, esp for entertainment. Bear in mind that MMS images are limited to 97K by the original P168 software. They won’t download if they are bigger. I had trouble w/ getting MMS from my wife’s phone since she had it set for max image quality. Reducing it a bit solved the problem!
bob
ps this may not be true for the later models… I have the 2nd gen

ok keith… here’s what I did to fix the same problem: (it’s posted above)
Hi… issues w/ T-Mobile MMS & email now solved:
(also figured out Handsfree operation)
Configured my CECT P168 selecting Motorola MOTORIZR Z3 as the phone type
—->>>>use this phone selection to send settings via the T-Mobile Wireless Configurator
URL: http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst
**did Picture Messaging (MMS) and t-zones (WAP)
**can now send & receive MMS (tested)
**—>email works via t-zones:
ENTER
Menu Key–Entertainment–Services–WAP–Homepage–Go to
T-MobileWeb–Email & IM–My Email–Inbox
**note that websites which can handle handhelds start w/ wap or m
such as wap.google.com or m.google.com
===============================
Handsfree:
Once call connects, press Right Hand Soft Key; this brings up a menu
selection in the lower right screen corner.
Press this selection to turn on Handsfree.

I was wondering where to get gams and how to put videos on my i9 clone. If anyone might know you can e-mail me at tlmanley1@yahoo.com
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:45 am
To all of you struggling with set-up of mms, sms, WAP - your service will NOT work with these phones right out of the box. They need to be programmed. So simply call T-Mobile (which I did BEFORE I bought the phone)or AT&T and tell then you have an unlocked phone and need to start those services on it. They don’t like it that you have a non-provider phone, but they WILL send you the necessary pings or access codes to start those services once you have the phone… There’s nothing illegal about an unlocked phone, so don’t be afraid to call them!

Hey Jimmy
Just wondering, I got all the details from my provider for the Nokia 2610, but what am I looking for, and what exactly is it, that I have to put int the phone, and where is it, to access the internet and MMS.
November 25th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Hi All
I just wanted to say that I have purchased 2 of the new recent updated models of the P168+ Clone phone, and after navigating thru it, it is a brilliant little phone. It takes a bit to get used to, but it is fantastic to use thru the computer, and download MP3’s and Pictures.
The only one thing I can’t do is receive or send MMS as the phone does not pick up Australian GPRS, I don’t if someone is able to help me out in that part or not.
Cheers

My p168 is muted I can hear but the person on the other end cant hear me. How do I fix this?
November 14th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
I a able tog et the screen replaced on most of these phones. Send me an email at sales@zydaglo.com and I can see what I can do for you. I have to admit that the newer phones have better screens than the older ones. The i68+ and the X1 have good screens along with the p168C.
November 14th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

November 11th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Annoying problem.
My cect p168 keeps on beeping, warning for a “bad charger” or “in charge” or “charger disconnected” even thou nothing at all is connected at it.
Opened it to see if it was a bad contact behind the charge connector but found nothing wrong there.
Any idea?

Poroto
About the internet mine is the same way but that’s because I don’t have internet service on my t-mobile account. I know it only cost $5.99 but I never had the need to have internet on my phone. Maybe some day I will put it on just to try it.
November 5th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
hi Poroto:
to view your ring tone you must go to profile and pick general there you pick customize then tone set up there you will see about 25 ringtones you can also add 5 custom ringtones just pick one of the empty spots it will direct you to your file on a memory card and there you can see your music.
any questions let me know.
