This phone is crap! I had a hell of a time converting the MP3s I wanted to use on it, only to find out that I cant use ANY of them as a ringtone or whenever I get a message!!! I have tried converting it to the lowest bit rate as possible and STILL DOES NOT WORK!! WOWWWW GREAT PHONE TOSHIBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ash. This is the case with all softbank phones. They play AACs and they are very difficult to set ringtones with. Please read manual before jumping to conclusions.

    Ash Says:

What? Read the manual BEFORE I buy the phone? We even went back to the shop where we got it from and asked them why we couldnt do these things on this phone and they just gave us the thing that the Japanese are famous for, making excuses! Any time you question a Japanese person about something difficult they ALWAYS start flying out excuses ALL over the place!

:D Don’t go dissing the japanese over this lil thing!
I understand your pain, I did the same thing with my 707sc and my 811sh. Its annoying, but then I read the manual and found out Hey, it plays AAC not MP3. WOOPS!

    Ash Says:

Yeah I know it plays AAC instead of MP3 but what Im saying is that when you convert your MP3s to AAcs you still CAN NOT set these for your ring tone or message alert! AND YOU CAN NOT READ THE MANUAL BEFORE BUYING A PHONE!!!!

You still don’t understand what I am saying:D
Ohwell. But I have to agree with you, it is really annoying. I blame the manufacture not softbank.

WHAT A PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT!! i just bought this shit today because my old phone couldnt play mp3 (among so many other things) and now i learn that this fucker cant play mp3 either despite of being much newer than the one i had!! WTF??? something i dont get, its that my company provided me with a different model, softbank as well but that one can play mp3, so whats wrong? i cant believe toshiba cant get up to date and make phones compatible with such a popular and used format. What the hell is ACC? never heard of it…

    omi Says:

It has nothing to do with softbank..Its all toshiba..still it comes with software to transfer your Mp3 files to AAC..stop complaining and think..

BTW everybody uses AAC nowadays. Its very common on iPods as well as Japanese phones. Even the jocks at my skool no dat r.

    Makiko Says:

yeah… i think the point is, AAC or MP3 can NOT be ringtone. only MMF file i think its called.
BECAUSE if you want mp3 ringtone, it has to be locked one only (bought one), and must be uploaded to phone using SD Jukebox program. OR, you download mp3 from softbank linked website and pay.

thats the answer. I dont understand why foreigners become so agitated LOL

    bobsuncle Says:

sometimes japanese phones made and sold in japan cannot play mp3s but the same phone sold in other countries with different firmware plays them so its probably got to do with some sort of licensing. end of story i reckon.

    Mike Says:

Can we use the Toshiba 912T Mobile phone in other countries with different SIM Card that’s bought in japan.

go read page 24-38 of the manual, that page explains all the fire types the phone accepts in each folder
