Sony XEL-1 OLED TV

Sony is going to launch their 3mm thin OLED TV, XEL-1 in the coming December. Sony XEL-1 is a 11-inch OLED TV with a resolution of 960×540, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, integrated digital TV tuner, HDMI, USB port and Ethernet port.

    Look at the footprint, it is huge compared to any other LED. Why would you create such a thin screen and then make such a HUGE tuner? Typical Sony. Just like the VCR, create an industry just to fight the very thing you created 20 years later. Sony needs to get there act together.

      would that tuner look so large if it was a 50in screen?

        I’m all for adjustability but the base looks hideous, and the screen is so thin that it looks like a light object or a small animal could potentially go right through it.

        Going by a recent promotional e-mail I received, this is estimated at $7,000? Sorry Sony, no thanks.
