Sciphone i68 iPhone Clone

We have seen a lot of iPhone clones, CECT P168 is probably the most popular one. However, Sciphone i68 may be able to challenge the P168.

Sciphone i68 features a 3.2-inch 16 Million color LCD touch display, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and FM Tuner. It comes with 1GB internal storage and support external memory cards.

i68 is a quad-band GSM phone. It measures 115mm×61mm×11.5mm and weighs  95g.

I had a P168c which I was enjoying a great deal, but no Java and other apps I needed/wanted for business purposes. Exchanged it for a i68+. It’s the newest version, however the sound quality (volume) is horrible. At a setting of 7 – to me it’s only equivalent to the p168c’s lowest setting. Also – no “tone” using the key pad and the ability to set up speed dial is non-existent. The pdf manual states that speed dial set up should be in the “settings” app, however it’s not on mine. My question is: Is this normal for this model or did I get a faulty phone? Particularly in regards to that volume matter, because it is first and foremost a phone. It does not do me much good if I can’t hear it ring.

Thanks for anyone who has a moment to answer.

  2. Kalpana says:

Obviously battery life is very short but the main problem I am having is while talking on the phone. The phone makes a loud buzzing noise on both sides while talking and I can’t get to stop it. Please help!

  3. Andrea says:

  5. Truus says:

:-) Frustratedddd: do you see their phonenumbers? If so, did you use the countrycode for the phonenumber when you saved the numbers? (+326123456789). This should help.

Mark: The calender is on the next page, so you have to slide the page (the 2nd dot below the page turns white).

Latrice: Did you put in the SIM the correct way? It seems that the phone can´t find the SIM card. In slot 1 the connector on the SIM should face up, in slot 2 the connector on the SIM should face down.

  6. latrice green says:

i just got the i68 a few hours ago and its saying emergency instead of tmobile so i cant call anyone. will it change in a few days?

    • Nekeura says:

did u check ur sim… is it in the right position?? cz i was having this emergency problem and the i changed the nposition of my sim… as in the matalic side upwards in the lower sim place…. and its working fine for me now:)

  7. Mark says:

How do you copy the contacts from sim to phone? do you have to do it one by one?
Where do I find the calendar on this phone, I thought this phone had one, I need to input appointments can I do that?
SMSing on this phone is really trying my patience – thank God I don’t do it much – no T9 function and the qwerty key board is a little too small.

  8. Frustratedddd says:

HELPPPP i moved all my contacts to the SIM and when ppl text their names dont show up!!!!! PLEASE HELPP!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Truus says:

JP: Who says I wanted an Iphone? For me I wanted a touchscreen phone with dual sim so I didn´t had to drag two phones with me anymore (one work, one personal). And with the Sciphone, I got just the phone I wanted for a reasonable price. So… If you don´t want the Sciphone, just don´t buy it (duh!). But thank you for your reply :-)

  10. JP says:

If you want an iPhone, buy an iPhone!!, you get what you pay for, £75 = crap phone!!

  11. Truus says:

Johnjames: you have to put in both SIMs in the two slots and when you press “Settings” -> “Dual SIM Settings” you should be able to select “Dual SIM open”. And if you put in both SIMs the right way, it should work like a charm.

Byron: I only use the original Schiphone i68 batteries (I had warranty with my phone so the shop I bought it with sent me two new original batteries) and I charged it Wednesday evening. My phone is on 24 hours a day, I phoned for a few hours send several SMS, checked my voicemail, checked my e-mail, used the internet, played MP3 so my phone has been on and used for about 36 hours and now on Friday morning I still don´t have to recharge the battery. So with good batteries, It goes a long way (that is, for a touch screen phone). It is common for touch screen phones that they have to be recharged more often than non-touch screen phones (I heared stories about the Iphone that had to be recharge everyday!).

Here are some sites for java midlets/apps:
    http://java.mob385.com/en/e-mail.shtml
    http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/

For internet use Bolt is a good browser.
For e-mail mMail is very good, but it is not free unfortunately($4). I tried several e-mail java apps but this is (untill now) the only one that could be set without problems and worked well right away.

i have 2 battrey that i got with the phone and when i put one in the phone and try turning it on the phone just chips out as i enter the pin number and press ok it locks off, can some one i see where said TRUSS got battries from here how long dose these battries last http://www.mysciphoneshop.com/.....-p-2.html)

  13. Steveo says:

The only place i have found to get apps is http://www.getjar.com. some of them work you just have to figure out witch ones. to set up the internet just google how to set up internet on my sciphone. there is a website ther that will help you. if you have any luck finding more apps or have more questions e-mail me mrleestillwell@yahoo.com

  14. Johnjames says:

Apart from the 2nd SIM slot not being recognised the telephone is ok.As Truus said, it´s notan i phone but for the price you pay and if you take the time to get around the usage, eh, not bad!
If anyone has an idea how I can get the 2nd SIM slot working I would be a very happy teddy with theis phone!

  15. Truus says:

Got this phone about a 1,5 month ago and I am very, very happy with it. The battery problem mostly occurs when you have a “Aphone” battery. Use the original Sciphone battery (for sale here: http://www.mysciphoneshop.com/.....-p-2.html) and you can easily use the phone a couple of days without recharging. I use this phone for everything, text messages (a lot!), calling, alarmclock, internet (with Bolt browser, no problems with memory), mp3 while in the gym with a very handy armband for the iphone. It´s true, the manual is uh, very “compact”, but once you get to know the phone and how it works, it is really great. Of course no comparisson to the Iphone, so don´t expect a real Iphone for the money. But I am very pleased with it!

Fatboy: the code for the factory reset is 1122.

  16. Dalighla says:

I have had quite a few problems with this phone. I almost wanted to cry when I first received it because I just couldn’t understand how in the hell to use the thing. Like everyone has stated before me, you do have to go through so many different screens to get do one thing. When it says i have a new message on my inbox button, I should be able to just tap that and open the message right away. But no, I have to tap that, then tap sms, then tap inbox, then tap sim1 inbox, then tap the message.THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Another thing, I cannot figure out how to put the phone on vibrate, silent, or at the very least how to turn down the ringer. This phone is so much more complicated than it should be. I can’t get any computer to recognize it, so I can’t download music or pictures. These are not my only problems, by any means.

  17. fatboy says:

Does anyone know the PIN for factory reset, or where I can download the originally installed software? I formatted the storage without backing up the apps and now have a load of duff icons

  18. pep says:

its a cheap version of the iphone, but works good just for recieving/making calls…the rest just sucks! what you´d you expect from a $50 cel phone??? it´s increidible it´s got a good reception, bettre tha the crappy motorolas or SE phones.

  19. byron says:

first of all i thought it was unlocked. Its not. next the graphics are terrible.

it feels terrible and cheap in the hand

i broke the screen in an hour, it has 5 awful cracks down it, and the speaker broke also.

the battery life is ok so far.

    but i dont recommend.

  22. BAD says:

This phone is horrible! The battery life is BAD!! You can fully charge it at night and by noon the next day, it is half gone!!!! It is also scary taking the battery cover off. If you pull too hard you can break that phone in half!!!!!! Also, the car charger does not work and the wall jack keeps coming off. THIS PHONE IS SO BAD. DO NOT BUY IT.

  23. GANGSTA O.G says:

DONT GET THIS FONE NO MATTER WHAT

  30. Kristie From USA says:

I just received the SciPhone i68 3.0a. This is the worst phone I ever used. Don`t be fooled by the reviews….. If you text alot this is not the phone for you. What a joke!!!!! I really didn`t get to use it alot because it sucked the life out of the battery within 15 minutes. Also within those 15 minutes the phone was so hot that you couldn`t use it next to your ears. Just to call someone you need to press 5 different commands just to call out. Wow I guess you get what you pay for!!! BEWARE DON`T BUY!!!!!

Can i order from http://www.yopool.com/sciphone.....-483.html? show cheap than others stores.

  34. Mike jones says:

Do not buy this phone, worst one I have used yet.
Battery cover: you have to push so hard it almost snaps the phone.
Batteries: could they be any cheaper? Be careful when you put it in or take it out its very cheap, paper on the battery frails when touched. I never knew they made batteries with paper on them???
All screens of the phone you can type on: Major cheesy lines running vertical, like something made back in the eighties.
    Pictures: The worst quality ever.
User Friendly: Not at all, to do anything you have to go through a minimal of 3 and some up to 5 different screens of questions.
Music/MP3: Good luck, phone is auto set to 800kb even though there is an 8 gig disk in the phone nothing you do will find it, I used the very cheap USB adapter that came with the phone to add or remove songs, photos, videos, etc and it kept telling me to put a larger disk in.
Manual: LOL what a joke the online one is as bad as the one that comes with the phone, everything you do with this phone you have to figure out on your own.
Call quality: Sounds like I am in a wind tunnel and so do the people I tried talking to even though my bars were full and I tested it while driving and walking.
Texting: Ok if you don’t mind trying to type the same word 4 or 5 times to get it right.
USB to PC Charger: Be very careful with this it is frail…
Accessories: My god nothing like using jumper wires and gadgets to make something work.

Sciphone — anybody found any good java programs for this thing? i’ve been surfing for 3 days now and have only found about 2.

Need stuff like calendar (ical…); a better note or document maker and some sort of basic excel sheet maker. Maybe a better virtual keyboard. This phone doesn’t have an Enter key for text.

    Have a great afternoon! :)
