Olympus announced not only the rugged 1050SW, but also the new Stylus 1040 ultra slim camera, which is the thinnest Stylus camera.
The Stylus 1040 features 10 Megapixel CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom. Digital Image Stabilization, Face Detection, Smile Shot, In-Camera Panorama, In-Camera Editing and TruePic III image processor are also available.
Unlike 1050SW, the 1040 is not rugged and does not have the Tap Control feature. It does come with a 2.7-Inch HyperCrystal LCD screen and 48MB built-in memory. It supports xd Picture card and microSD via an adapter.
Available in October 2008, the Olympus Stylus 1040 costs US $199.99.
