Intel announced that it has begun shipping its highest- performing X-25E Extreme SATA Solid State Drive (SSD), which is target at server, workstation and storage systems. The 2.5-inch X-25E Extreme packs 50nm single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash memory.
“The Intel X25-E increases server, workstation and storage system performance by 100 times over hard disk drives as measured in Input/Output Per Second (IOPS), today’s key storage performance metric.”
The 32GB version of Intel X-25E SATA SSD offers up to 250 megabytes per second (MB/s) sequential read speeds and up to 170 MB/s sequential write speeds. The 32GB X-25E is now available at $695 for quantities up to 1,000 while the 64GB will be available in Q1 2009.
