Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM Lens

Sigma announced the launch of the 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens for DSLR cameras. Priced at 123,800 Yen, Sigma’s 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM zoom lens features HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) offering quiet and high speed auto focus. It has a ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and three aspherical lenses provide excellent correction of all types of aberrations.
The Canon DSLR compatible Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM will be launched on 25 January 2009 while the Nikon and Sigma versions on February. The release date of Sony and Pentax-mounted version is not yet announced.

Spoke with Sigma yesterday (1/26/08). The lens is ready but they are waiting on the Canon and Nikon mounts for the lenses. The Canon will be available now mid feb with the Nikon to follow probably early March. They confirmed MSRP to be $1,400 dollars with a street price around $900.
