Other than the XV-BP1 Blu-ray player, JVC is also launching the TH-SB100, the company’s first Blu-ray home-theater-in-a-box system in the US market. The TH-SB100 is in fact the US version of the Sophisti NX-BD3.The system includes a sound bar speaker system, wireless subwoofer and Blu-ray player.
JVC’s TH-SB100 is a 3.1-channel system. It’s Blu-ray player supports BD Live (Profile ver. 2.0) and has AVCHD playback function, Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, and six-mode digital signal processing. The sound bar has an internal amplifier that provides 30 watts each to the left, right and center channels. Left and right channels are each handled by a pair of three-inch woofers and half-inch tweeter, while a single three-inch woofer handles the center channel. There is also a 100-watt 3-inch subwoofer.
JVC’s TH-SB100 has HDMI ver.1.3 with Deep Color and x.v.Color, USB Host, LAN for BD Live, component and composite video outputs, and analog, optical and coaxial audio outputs. It wil be available in April 2009 for $699.95.

I’m not quite sure how JVC can get away with calling 2 speakers and a sub a home theater. In my book that is stereo. (nice boom box system welcome back to the 80’s) To have home theater it should be set up like a theater with at least a 5.1 surround sound system. I’ve never been to a theater with only front speakers. LOL! Sharp has a 5.1 Blue Ray home theater in a box out soon and I think its only $100 more than this.
