Nikon announced the new D5000 entry-level digital SLR. The 12.3 Megapixel D5000 is powered by Nikon’s EXPEED image processing system and features a broad ISO range from 100 to 6400, 3D Color Matrix Metering II, Scene Recognition System with Face Detection and ±5 EV exposure compensation. Nikon D5000 is able to record 1280x720p HD video in Motion-JPEG format. It has a 2.7-inch Vari-angle type LCD display. D5000 uses Nikon DX format with a 1.5 x lens focal length and is compatible with AF-S and AF-I NIKKOR lenses.
The Nikon D5000 DSLR is priced at $849.95 with a the AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. The body itself is priced at $729.95.
