Sony announced the latest addition to its DVDirect line of DVD recorder, the VRD-MC6. The devie allows users to transfer SD or HD videos and photos from their camcorder or camera to DVD discs without the need of a PC.
The DVDirect VRD-MC6 can bring AVCHD quality videos to DVD discs in 1080i HD resolution from Sony’s hard drive or Memory Stick based Handycam camcorder. The AVCHD DVD produced can then be played back on AVCHD-enabled Blu-ray player and PS3. Standard definition videos are, of course, supported.
Sony’s DVDirect VRD-MC6 comes with a 2.7-inch LCD screen and offers iLink/FireWire port, USB port, and Composite video input. The recorder offers card slots for Memory Stock, SD/SDHC, xD. It is able to record digital photos to a DVD as a slideshow from these memory cards or USB drive or Handycams. It can write on Dual Layer DVD+R discs and maintain Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Sony DVDirect VRD-MC6 will be available in September for $229.
