Sony HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V Full HD Handycam Camcorders

Sony adds to its Handycam line the new HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V Full HD camcorders. The former comes with 64GB flash memory and the latter has 32GB. They have a 6 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor allowing them to record 1920×1080 Full HD video and up to 12 Megapixel still images.
Sony’s HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V offers 12X optical zoom and 150X digital zoom. They are features Face Detection, Dynamic Range Optimizer, Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and Smile Shutter. There is a 3-inch touchscreen display. These two Handycams have the BIONZ image processor and reocrd HD video in MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format and SD video in MPEG2 format.
HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V have built-in GPS receiver and NAVTEQ digital maps for geo-tagging videos and photos. They offers the Dual Record function that allows users to capture 8.3 Megapixel still images while shooting HD video. They do Dolby Digital 5.1ch recording with Built-in Zoom Mic.
Other than internal flash memory, both camcorders support Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX memory cards. Coming in September, Sony HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V are priced at $1100 and $1300 respectively.

Sony’s powerful BIONZ™ imaging processor is adding a Face Touch function. With Face Touch, users can select a person to be prioritized by the camcorder simply by touching a detected face on the screen. The camcorders prioritize and optimize focus, skin color, and brightness for the selected individual, even if they leave the scene, for the entire recording session. This new feature is a function of Face Detection, which also incorporates Smile Shutter™ technology to capture candid smiling photos while simultaneously recording video.
