Verbatim SureFire FireWire 800 External Hard Drive

Verbatim introduces the new SureFire external hard drive that offers both FireWire and USB 2.0 interface. Based on 2.5-inch hard drive, the SureFire is available with 250GB, 320GB and 500GB capacities and offers 5400RPM and 8MB cache memory.
The SureFire series is targeted at Mac users as it is HFS+ formatted. It is also Time Machine-ready. These drives are priceda t $110, $140 and $180 respectively.

This drive has crashed three times while running Fusionware and my VMs. It hangs and winges. The speed seems incredibly slow and after running XBench, it IS. At best, it runs a few points ahead fo my Seagate external USB drive.
Also, it runs hottedr than hell – the case, that is.
Not sold at all – I repartitioned the thing 3 times, reloaded VMs and other files….I will never get back any time-savings from this thing. What a waste of time and money.
It’s going back to the Apple Store today.
It is suitable for MacBook Pro owners who would need the entire 800Mbps of bandwidth. As for the casing, it isn’t coated in Teflon but is made out of scratch-resistant aluminum.
