Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Bose announced the new QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise-Cancelling headphones that is the “quietest Bose headphones ever.” The QuietComfort 15 features an around-ear design and a single ercup cable can be detached untethered noise reduction. When the cable is removed, users just flip a switch on the right earcup to activate the Acoustic Noise-Cancelling technology.

The Bose QC 15 includes also new ear cushion technology for additional passive attenuation. It runs on a single AAA battery that offers up to 35 hours of use.

The QuietComfort 15 headphones debut a more sophisticated, proprietary electronics approach to active noise reduction, placing microphones both inside and outside the earcup. This electronics system better senses the sound in almost any environment and then more effectively measures, compares and reacts to the noise –- instant by instant –- to produce an opposing cancellation signal.

Dear itechnews: I have a question – Are the QC15 BOSE noise cancelling headphones significantly superior to the QC2s?

Two weeks ago I purchased 2 pair of QC2s. I was upset when just a week later I was sent an email from BOSE announcing the new 15s. I complained to BOSE and they replied that I could send them back and get credit toward a purchase of the 15s. Is it worth the extra $50-$75 a pair to up grade to the 15s?

    Your advice would be appreciated!

      David,

Like you, I recently bought QC2s. I brought mine into a Bose factory store which gave me full credit ($299) towards the purchase of the new QC15s ($299.95) so it cost me only about a dollar to upgrade. The difference is not like night and day, but certainly noticeable: noise cancellation has improved with the 15s and the audio quality is pretty much the same as the QC2s (which I like better than the more expensive QC3s).

Bottom line: for only about a dollar, this upgrade should be a no-brainer!
