Canon presents the new VIXIA HF S11 dual flash memory digital camcorder that is capable of Full HD video recording. As the successor of the S10, the VIXIA HF S11 has 64GB internal flash memory that is enough for up to 24 hours of HD video.
The VIXIA HF S11 features a 8.59-megapixel Full HD CMOS image sensor, Canon’s DIGIC DV III Image processor, Genuine Canon HD Video lens, Instant Auto Focus and Video Face Detection. The camcorder takes 8 Megapixel photos and records 1920×1080p Full HD video in 24p Cinema Mode or 30p Progressive Mode, in MPEG4-AVC / H.264 format.

Canon’s new Full HD camcorder includes also Canon’s new Dynamic SuperRange OIS system, which delivers the ultimate in shake correction by providing continuous adjustment throughout the entire zoom range, and an Advanced Video Snapshot Mode which allows you to create the perfect highlight movie to share with family and friends by recording a series of four second clips when in shooting mode as well as in playback mode.

Other than 64GB internal memory, the VIXIA HF S11 records also to SDHC memory cards. Also announced is the RA-V1 Remote Control Adapter that provides the VIXIA HF S11 with a LANC terminal for connecting optional Canon (ZR-1000 and ZR-2000) and third-party wired remote controllers.
Canon’s VIXIA HF S11 will be released in Mid-September for $1499 and the RA-V1 Remote Control Adapter costs $120.

There Is A Reason For The Last Statement!
‘m a podcast producer based in Tokyo and last week took delivery of the HF S11. I would just like to say that this camera is stunning! The picture quality is simply superb, and the image stabilisation is unlike anything I’ve seen on a consumer camera before.
I shot a video of a traditional Japanese dance festival last week – all handheld, and much of it filmed from quite a distance (link below).
We use it with the DM100 Directional Stereo Mic – superb piece of kit.
The battery life with the included BP-807 is dissapointing – about one hour in reality (we have now invested in the BP-827). We will also be buying a wide angle lens as for interviews you have to get a fair distance between the camera and the interviewee.
Can’t recommend this camera highly enough. Works wonderfully with Final Cut / iMovie too.
The version of our video we have on Facebook is the best quality upload we have.

Can you tell me about your workflow getting the raw data off of your flash cards and imported into Final Cut? Also, what kind of files does the camera create?
