After the Reader Pocket Edition and the Reader Touch Edition, Sony brings the new Reader Daily Edition that comes with 3G connectivity.

The Reader Daily Edition features a 7-inch touchsreen e-ink Vizplex e-paper display and comes with AT&T 3G mobile broadband support for wireless access to Sony’s e-book store. It supports most e-book formats including Word, BBeB, PDF, EPUB. The Reader Daily Edition is priced at $399.

Also announced is the Sony Library Finder application that allows users to access OverDrive local library’s collection of eBooks. Users can find ebooks from their selected library’s download website check out eBooks with a valid library card. At the end of the library’s lending period, eBooks simply expire, so there are never any late fees.

    In my opinion, this whole thing sounds like the Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD war, and before that, the Betamax vx. VHS war, technologically speaking. Much as I’d like to get an e-book reader, I think I’ll wait until the war is over–and the prices drop, as they already have for Blu-Ray players.
