Along with the a550 and a500, Sony introduces the Alpha a850 full-frame DSLR camera that shares the same 24.6 megapixel sensor and most features of the flagship a900 DSLR camera.
Sony’s a850 features a 24.6-megapixel, 35-mm full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor and dual BIONZ engine for fast image processing. It is able to do high-speed continuous shooting of 24.6 megapixel images at up to three frames per second. The Full Frame DSLR offers the body-integrated SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization system that works with all Sony, Minolta and Konica-Minolta compatible lenses.

Also included is the Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) with five levels of user-selectable correction as well as DRO bracketing for enhanced scene analysis and graduation optimization. The a850 has a “ultra-bright” viewfinder with 98% field of view coverage and a 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD display with 921,000 pixel. The camera has also HDMI output. It supports Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, HX series and CompactFlash media.
Sony Alpha a850 (model DSLR-A850) will be available in September and priced at about $2000 for only the body. The choice of full-frame lenses to complement the a850 model is enhanced with the new SAL2875 28-75mm F2.8 SAM lens. It will be released in November for $800.

Thanks for the nice product pics. I’m trying to decide between the A900 and the slightly cheaper A850. I’m leaning toward the A900… Have seen some nice overviews and user reviews… current fav’s are from Imaging Resource (high points for completeness) and Photocrati. I like Peter Burian’s photographer-centric approach for the A850, plus he’s got some good pics.
