Sennheiser RS 160
Sennheiser announced at the IFA in Berlin three new wireless headphones, the RS 160, RS 170 and RS 180. All these headphones use Kleer transmission technology for uncompressed transmission of the audio data and come with dynamic sound transducers with powerful neodymium magnets.
Sennheiser RS 170
The RS 160 is an entry-level closed headphones that offers powerful bass reproduction. It has a wireless range of up to 20 metres radius. The mid-range RS 170 deliver dynamic bass boost and switchable surround sound with its closded design and a wireless range of up to 80 meters.
Sennheiser RS 180
The top-of the range model, RS 180, has a open design for ensuring natural listening experience which can be set to individual preferences. It’s dynamic compression (Automatic Level Control) can improve the speech intelligibility. It offers a range of up to 100 meters.
These wireless headphones are ideal for use with your TV, DVD player, stereo system or other multimedia device. They will be released in October.

TO THE BUYER.
I FIRST STARTED WITH THE RS-116 THEY WERE OK.
I DECIDED TO TRY THE RS-160s
NOW THE COMPARISON OF THESE 2 MODELS WAS QUITE VAST.
NOW WITH THE RS-160s THEY’RE WAS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT ABSOLUTELY NO NOISE AND VERY CLEAN AND A GOOD CHOICE FOR THE AVERAGE USER.
EVEN THOUGH THE RE-160s WERE GOOD THEY HAD CERTAIN INCONVENIENCE’S OF WHICH MADE ME LOOK AT THE RS-180s
NOW THIS UNIT THE RS-180s ABSOLUTELY KILLED THE RS-160s.
THIS STANDARD IS OF AUDIOPHILE ORIGIN IN SHORT SIMPLY AMAZING WITHOUT A FLAW.THE CRADLE CHARGE WITH AUTO SHUT OFF’S ON BOTH UNITS MADE THE RS-180s SUPERB.THE AUDIO SIDE ON THIS UNIT WAS EXCELLENT AGAIN WITHOUT A FLAW.
I WOUID CALL THE RS-180s A REFERENCE SET OF HEADPHONES AND THE WIRELESS PART IS JUST AN EXTRA BONUS.
POINT IM GLAD I DECIDED ON THE RS-180s;THEY ARE ELITE COMPARED TO THESE OTHER PREVIOUS MENTIONED MODELS.
IT’S SIMPLY A NO BRAINER.

Unfortunately, the transmission delay is pretty significant (50-100ms), making this headphones inappropriate for musicians. Had to send it back
Apart from that, nice sound and quite comfortable…

If the delay makes the use of these headphones for the inappropriate use of a musician … This delay should not make them inappropriate to watch TV (since it would create a delay between images and sounds?) thanks

I had the pleasure to listen to all 3 new RS Headphones at the CBIT in Berlin.
I was more then surprised about the quality of sound of all 3 (less with the 170) specially with the RS 180.
I also heard the $ 1400.– Sennheiser HD 800 which I didn’t liked (no bass, to clear cold high).
At home I use an AKG 271 MK II with a Pro-Ject Head-Amp and as speakers I use Audio Physics Scorpio for stereo and KEF 3005.2 for surround.
Bottom line: I will purchase a RS 180
