Sony STR-DA5500ES Elevated Standard Receiver
Sony adds to its flagship ES (Elevated Standard) range two new AV receivers, the STR-DA5500ES and STR-DA3500ES, replacing the DA5400 and DA3400. Both devices come with HD Digital Cinema Sound capability and supports all the current high-definition video and audio formats on Blu-ray Disc, including 1080/24p, x.v. Colour, Deep Colour and Dolby True HD/DTS-HD.
Sony STR-DA3500ES Elevated Standard Receiver
The Sony STR-DA5500ES is a 7.1-channel AV receiver with 120Wx7 output power while the STR-DA3500ES has 100×7 output. The set-up of these receivers are made simple by the Digital Cinema Auto-Calibration. Sony’s new receivers are equipped with Faroudja DCDi Cinema IC chip (the STR-DA5500ES gets two chips) for 1080p upscaling and video upconversion for legacy video formats.
Sony’s STR-DA5500ES offers also Ethernet connectivity for accessing networked devices or internet music services. It is priced at $1999.99. The STR-DA3500ES, on the other hand, costs $999.
