Seagate introduces the Barracuda XT, the world’s fastest, largest-capacity mainstream desktop hard drive. The Barracuda XT is a 7200RPM hard drive with 2TB storage capacity and uses Serial ATA (SATA) 6Gb/second interface.
The four-platter Barracuda XT features an areal density of 368 Gigabits per square inch. It maintains backward compatibility with the SATA 3Gb/second and SATA 1.5Gb/second interfaces. The SATA 6Gb/s Barracuda XT will be demonstrated at the IDF.
