Just installed this with 5 extra handsets (8 total) – using a landline and also paired it to 2 cell phones (me & my wife’s). I’m an x-telco guy, and love this system. Purchased everything on eBay for about $210 incl s&h. Wish it had feature to add ringtones, and then assign them to caller i.d.’s (like many cell phones can). With older parents, it would be nice to know upon ring if it’s a VIP calling. Phones are light – but that’s good to prevent arm fatigue on long calls. Large phonebook, and keeps the cells’ phonebooks seperate. Nice styling. Haven’t tested range yet, but so far sounds just like a wired phone.
wish I had found this blog before today. The advices in this posts are very helpful and I surely will read the other posts of this series too.Thank you for posting this. Your Blog is Bookmarked
Everything they say is true, but what the neglect to say is critical.
They don’t mention that the answering machine on the DS6321 does not work with your cellphone, only with a landline.
They don’t mention that you can’t check your cell voicemail with the DS6321 because you cannot transmit your password to your voicemail provider. Have to use your cell phone itself to check voicemail.
Just bought the 4 unit. More impressive than imagined. As an ex telco guy I can see where this is where handsets are going. Fantastic for the home that has gone totally cellular.
Have experience with the Motorola of the same mode, V-tech more impressive. Features are more robust.
Truly the design of the future especially when Blutooth distance is increased.
after using the phones for a little bit now, they seem to work well. There are a few things i wish were different like other phones. I have 10 Digit Dialing and if you put the area code in, it will not let you call back numbers due to the removing of the area code. So don’t put one in and your good. Another is if your on your cell phone walking into your house and wish to use the handset, it does not allow you to transfer it over. Maybe there is a function we do not know about….
the functions the phone comes with it seems are very basic. Other than the Blue-tooth everything else is standard and missing some of the functions that came out in the past 8 years. Phone is very clear, talking on your cell is very clear and it is worth it if your looking for the blue-tooth feature.
As of your question: Another is if your on your cell phone walking into your house and wish to use the handset, it does not allow you to transfer it over. Maybe there is a function we do not know about….
When you walk into the house and get cell phone connected to the base nit. You may try to set your cell to transfer audio to the Vtech phone like normal audio transfer back forth a Bluetooth headset. The Vtech handset will signal you like an incoming coming from cellular line (CELL key backlit flashing) but without ringer sound.
Just bought one yesterday, set up was a snap, paired the base with my 2 Verizon cellphones and was able to quickly download a phone book. One snag: one of the handsets died today, one day after purchase; it keeps on claiming that the battery is low or dead and will not charge.
Just bought, not any reviews on this product…. I hope i made the right choice over the 6225-3.
