Expained in the manual. Other views fine. Netflix streaming works well. On the left lower corner if you hold your hand there a menu pops up. If you choose Menu then from the block of multiple grid choices pick Help (lower right) then System- (arrow down)you will be shown a list of info items for the current channel you are watching - one is resolution . I found this very good in evaluating the picture quality, nice addition. My Personal choice Samsung 5000:1 seems brighter than Vizio 1000-1, Samsung - with a matte finish- as crisp as Vizio. Seems to affect the comcast cable TV viewing did not notice this in VGA mode with Dell inspiron laptop ATI GRAPHICS, RESOLUTION WAS READ CORRECTLY. I'll take it back to see if it is just this unit.
