Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 Multitouch Ultra Compact PC

Fujitsu announced the LifeBook UH900, an ultra compact, ultra lightweight handheld PC/MID/netbook (or whatever you call it) with multitouch. The UH900 gets a 5.6-inch “vivid glare screen” with 300nit brightness and WXGA resolution. The screen is sunlight readable. It runs Windows 7 and includes multitouch support.

The LifeBook UH900 is equipped with an Intel Atom Z530 processor and 62GB SSD. It comes with integrated support for 3.5G mobile network. You can also find a QWERTY keyboard, webcam, stereo microphone and Bluetooth. The pocket-sized device measures 204 x 106.5 x 23.8mm and weighs less than 500g. It will come in Mocha Black, Fiery Red and Vintage Gold in glossy finish.

    Seems very cool. A colleague of mine and I were talking about the proliferation of netbooks lately; she feels that soon, cell phones may become less complicated but we will start carrying netbooks everywhere. I disagree. I think mobile devices will become the norm, and netbooks will become more of the norm. One thing we did agree upon, however, was that they will probably resemble the Google Chrome netbooks in that they will be primarily web based. It will be interesting to let the invisible hand decide whether fully functioning OS’s are necessary on netbooks or not.
