Other than the NXCAM HXR-NX5U for professionals, Sony brings the Handycam HDR-AX2000 AVCHD camcorder to prosumers. The device uses three 1/3-inch Exmor CMOS Sensors with Exmor derived technology. It records 1920×1080/60i HD video at up to 24Mbps with progressive scan at 1080/24p and 30p.
The Handycam HDR-AX2000 gets 29.5mm Wide-Angle to 590mm Telephoto G-Lens with 20x zoom and a 3.2-inch LCD display and 0.45-inch electronic viewfinder, just like the HXR-NX5U. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode is also included. Both Memory Stick PRO Duo and SDHC storage cards are supported.
The Sony HDR-AX2000 will be available in March for $3500.
