Armatix Pistol/Wristwatch combo
by Sze | Filed under Others
German firm Armatix shows at the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show its Pistol/Wristwatch combo. The idea is that the pistol will be automatically disabled when it is not within a few inches of the custom wristwatch.
The watch sends a wireless arming signal to the gun. If the gun is picking up a signal from the watch, a green LED on the back lights up. Try squeezing the handle without wearing the watch, and you will see a red warning light.
The limited edition of pistol is priced at Euro 7000.

This opens up several thoughts I have. I can see where this may be useful in some situations like target practice or a backup firearm or maybe in a prison. At first, it seems ok but the more I think about it I see some possible flaws that lead me to questions. What happens when there is an armed intruder closing in and the watch dies or does not function? What if your husband has already been killed and the only firearm is within reach but you need the watch?
