Olympus introduces STYLUS TOUGH-8010 and TOUGH-6020, two new ultra rugged digital cameras. Like the new FujiFilm XP10, these cameras are ‘four-proof’ - Shockproof, Waterproof, Crushproof and Freezeproof. They both have 14 Megapixel sensor, 28mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom and 2.7-inch LCD screen.

Both cameras can still operate when the temperature dips well below freezing at -10 Celsius. The TOUGH-8010 can withstand 6.6-foot drop, 220 pounds of crushing pressure and dive to 33 feet under water while the TOUGH-6020 is able to survive a 5-foot drop, submerged to 16 feet under water.

Olympus’ new STYLUS cameras both feature TruePic III image processor, Dual Image Stabilization, Magic Filter, Face Detection and In-Camera Panorama. They include the Tap Control that allows the cameras to be controlled with a simple tap on their top, back or sides, thanks to the internal 3D accelerometer that detects the direction of the force on the camera’s body. These rugged cameras can shoot 720p HD video and has a 2.7-inch LCD display and HDMI output.
