After the BD-HDW55 and BD-HDW53, Sharp is launching in Japan its AQUOS BD-HDS55 and AQUOS BD-HDS53 Blu-ray recorders. They have integrated HD tuner and comes with 500GB and 320GB hard drive respectively.
These AQUOS Blu-ray recorders utilizes a new transcode technology that offers 10 times of recording time in Full HD. They can also record CATV programmes and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec is used. Other than BD-R/RE, DVD-R/RW/DL recording are also supported and playback of BD, BD-R/RE, DVD-RAM, DVD+/-R and CD-R/RW can be handled.
The Sharp AQUOS BD-HDS55 and BD-HDS53 will be released on 24 May for about 90,000 Yen and 80,000 Yen respectively.
