Alongside the announcement of the NEX-3 and NEX-5 ultra compact cameras, Sony also mentioned that it is developing a new AVCHD HD camcorder with an interchangeable lens system.

Sony NEX-5

Sony officially announced the NEX-3 and NEX-5 ultra-compact Alpha DSLRs with interchangeable lenses, joining the company’s Alpha α family. These cameras offers a ultra small form factor at the same time deliver DSLR picture quality and responsive shooting, thanks to the ‘mirrorless’ construction that shrinks the thickness of NEX-5 to just 24.2mm and  that of NEX-3 to 25.4mm at their slimmest point. The NEX-5 is in fact the world’s smallest and lightest1 interchangeable lens digital camera.
