Plextor announced at the Computex 2010 its PlexMedia networked HD media player and the compatible PX-B120U external BD-ROM drive, that combine to offer Blu-ray Disc playback without the need of a Blu-ray player.
The Plextor PlexMedia is a networked HD media player. It has a 3.5-inch internal drive bay and offers three USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA port and Gigabit Ethernet LAN port. The player supports Full HD output via HDMI 1.3a and support for Dolby TrueHD 7.1 and DTS-HD MA 7.1 HD audio.
Plextor’s PX-B120U is an external BD-ROM drive that can be connected to the PlexMedia for Blu-ray Disc playback. It can also be used with your desktop or laptop PCs. Also at Computex, Plextor showcases its complete Blu-ray disc drive portfolio, including its PX-B940SA 12X BD Writer and PX-B320SA 8X BD Combo.
