SeaMicro SM10000 Server with 512 Atom CPUs

SeaMicro launches its new SM10000, an Internet-optimized x86-server powered by 512 Intel Atom processors and features Ethernet switching, server management and application load-balancing. The server is designed to replace 40 1U serves and uses 1/4 the power and takes 1/4 the space.
The SM10000 is equipped with 512 1.6GHz Atom CPUs and 1TB of DRAM, and up to 64GB SATA SSD or hard drive. It also offers up to 64 1Gbps uplinks or 16 10Gbps uplinks. The SeaMicro SM10000 will be available on 30 July and the base configuration is priced at $139,000.

With lower power next generation Atom Chips and 64 low power 16GB Solid State Drives for 1TB Program Storage; this would make a great mobile supercomputing cluster for an autonomous ROBOT. I think I read it’ll do about 1.6 TFLOPS – thats enough ‘smarts’ to keep it from running into things and only 2 KW to power it.
