Panasonic introduces the newest Toughbook U1 Ultra, a fully rugged ultra-mobile PC that meets MIL-STD-810G and IP65 standards for environmental conditions, and is able to withstand a drop of 6 feet from any angle. It has also IP65 certified sealed all-weather design with magnesium alloy chassis and is UL1604 (Class 1, Div 2) certified.
The new U1 Ultra is boosted by an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB SSD, and runs Windows 7. It comes with a 5.6-inch WSVGA sunlight-viewable LED-backlit touchscreen using TransflectivePlus technology with up to 6000 nit viewability. The rugged Toughbook includes support for Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi. Users may want to add optional WWAN Gobi 2000 mobile broadband module for EVDO and HSPA support, GPS receiver, 1D barcode scanner, 2D barcode scanner, fingerprint scanner, 2 Megapixel auto focus camera with dual LED lights and numeric keypad.
The Panasonic Toughbook U1 Ultra is available for $2799. With the launch of the U1 Ultra, the original U1 is now known as the Toughbook U1 Essential.
