Sanyo announced in Europe the new Xacti VPC-PD1, a compact, pocket-size Full HD Dual Camera. The camcorder is basically identical to the US-bound VPC-PD2, but gets a different name.

Other than the Optio RS1000 with removable faceplates, Pentax also announced in Japan the Optio NB1000 that is customizable using “Lego” bricks. Actually, those are not Lego but nanoblock by Japanese firm Kawada diablock.

Pentax introduces its new compact lightweight K-r digital SLR camera, which is the follow-up to the K-x, with stainless-steel chassis. The new K-R features a new 12.4 Megapixel sensor with high sensitivity 100-25600 ISO range and improved noise performance, viewfinder focus point indicator an a 3-inch LCD display. It will come in black, white and red. Japanese consumers can even personalize their K-r by changing their body color and grip colors using removable parts, getting 120 color variations. Pentax will also release a special gold edition in Japan.

Alongside the 10x zoom Optio RZ10, Pentax also releases the Optio RS1000 digital camera that can be personalized using a choice of 11 standard skins that ship with it. Consumers can even use the included SKINIT gift card to design and order a free, high quality, pre-cut, 3M vinyl skin from skinit.com or download the PENTAX PERSONAL SKIN DESIGNER Adobe Air-based software to create their own skins.

Pentax introduces the Optio RZ10, a new digital camera with 10x optical zoom lens covering focal lengths from 28mm wide angle to 280mm telephoto (in the 35mm format). The new long-zoom camera record 1280x720p HD movie at 30fps and includes the Movie SR (Shake Reduction) mode.

Nikon introduces the new CoolPix S80 touchscreen digital camera that gets a stylish and “fashion-forward” design, replacing the S70. The new S80 comes with a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen display for touch control, featuring tab-type graphics to maximize screen space without cluttering it with icons.

T-Mobile USA officially announced the T-Mobile G2 by HTC (aka HTC Vision), which is the first smartphone specifically designed for T-Mobile’s new HSPA+ network. Like the G1, the first Android phone, the new G2 is a slider with side-slide full QWERTY keyboard. Of course, the G2 gets a better look and more advanced features than the G1.

Alongside the Rikiki USB 3.0, LaCie also announced the Minimus USB 3.0 desktop hard drive that is bigger size than the Rikiki, yet still compact. The Minimus uses USB 3.0 interface and comes with 1TB of capacity. It has a tough aluminum casing like the Rikiki.
