Intel Atom Z670 CPU for Tablets

Intel launches the Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor which is ideal for creating smaller, thinner, fanless devices for mobile clinical assistants, industrial tablets and portable point-of-sales devices. Running at 1.5GHz clock speed, the Z670 packs the GMA600 integrated graphics supporting 1080p Full HD playback, and SM35 Express chipset. According to Intel, the processor is 60 percent smaller than previous generations with a lower-power design for fanless devices as well as up to all-day battery life.

Intel also mentioned that the next-generation Cedar Trail platform will include support for Blu-ray 2.0, a dedicated media engine for full 1080p playback, HDMI, DisplayPort output as well as Intel Wireless Display. The Cedar Trail is expected to be released in second half of 2011.
