Globalscale announced its new D2 Plug, an embedded, developer-friendly platform for rapid prototyping, application development, evaluation and interoperability testing of cloud-based service deployments. The developer kit is powered by Marvell PXA510 Application Processor with ARMv7 ISA compatible core running at 800MHz with 1GB of DDR3 memory and 8GB flash memory. The PXA510 processor supports Ubuntu Linux 10.4 for out-of-the-box testing, along with Android 2.2 and a full Internet experience certified for Adobe Flash Player 10.1. For video, the processor features a multi-format decoder for 1080P playback and a 25 MTPS 3D graphics accelerator.
The D2 Plug offers 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet port, USB 2.0 ports, eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port, SD card slot, VGA output, HDMI output, microphone input and S/PDIF optical out. The developer kit is equipped with Marvell’s 88W8787 offering WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. The D2 Plug is housed in a fan-less enclosure. It measures 170mm X 82mm X 33mm.
