Samsung introduces two new Series 7 notebooks at the CES 2013, including the all-new Series 7 Ultrabook that Samsung says to take Ultrabooks to the next level, and the refreshed Series 7 Chronos that provides professional performance in a thinner and lighter form factor. Both of them run the latest Microsoft Windows 8 operating system, and feature optional 10-point multitouch display.
The Series 7 Ultra (model 730U3E) is the first Ultrabook in the company’s Series 7 family, offering superior mobility and performance in an ultra-slim and light, full aluminum body, weighing 1.46kg. The ultra lightweight Ultrabook comes in touch and non-touch variants, featuring a 13.3-inch Full HD 1920×1080 display, with the touch model supporting 10-finger multitouch. It is powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i5 or i7 ULV processor, AMD’s Radeon HD8570M graphics with 1GB video memory, up to 16GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB solid state drive. You can also find JBL stereo speakers 2Wx2 with SoundAlive sound enhancement, and up to 8 hours of battery life.
The enhanced Series 7 Chronos (model 770Z5E) is updated with more powerful processor and AMD’s Radeon HD8870M graphics with 2GB graphics memory to provide improved processing power for professional users. It also includes the new RAMaccelerator software that offers up to a 150% increase in speed for browsing and running apps by taking advantage of the existing memory. The notebook also sports a Core i7-3635QM 2.4GHz CPU, 4GB or 8GB (max 16GB) of memory, up to 1TB hard drive. Its 15.6-inch display has Full HD resolution and optional multitouch, and there is 4Wx2 JBL stereo speakers with virtual woofer and SoundAlive sound effect. You can expect up to 11 hours of long battery life.
Both Series 7 notebooks come in bare metal color. They both have a HD 720p webcam, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA video output, backlit keyboard, 3-in-1 card reader and security slot.
