Lenovo expands its ThinkPad line with a new model with an elegant floating design and a touchscreen display. Called, ThinkPad S431, the laptop is optimized for Windows 8 and is ideal for small businesses that need a do-it-all machine that combines performance and style.
The bevelled edges on the front and side give an illusion that the PC is floating and make the 20.5mm frame look even thinner, while the real aluminum cover is sand blasted and anodized for smooth touch and a premium feel. Lenovo said that the laptop’s progressive design will help small businesses impress their customer.
The S431 is powered by Intel’s 3rd gen Core processor and comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive. With a super slim bezel, the notebook managed to pack a 14-inch LCD display in a 13-inch frame and a smaller body. The multitouch touchscreen allows users to swipe, scroll and tap using their fingers, and the 180-degree open angle allows users to use the laptop in different modes. The 6-row backlit keyboard includes Windows 8-optimized shortcut keys and the five-button clickpad gets glass surface for smooth touch and supports Windows 8 gestures.
The new laptop supports Lenovo’s OneLink technology that allows users to connect the laptop to the ThinkPad OneLink Dock with a single cable for dedicated video, additional USB 3.0 ports and gigabit Ethernet.
The ThinkPad S431 will be available in June starting at $699, and the OneLink Dock will be released on 21 May. Lenovo also ships the ThinkPad Edge E431 and E531 with starting price of $509.
