Network storage solution maker Synology has launched the new DiskStation DS213j 2-bay NAS server. The budget-friendly server is ideal for home and small office users who want to have a private cloud server for file storage and sharing with data protection. The dual-bay system can accomodate up to two 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch 4TB hard drives for a total of 8TB maximum capacity. Like other Synology servers, it runs DiskStation Manager software.
Powered by a Floating-point unit CPU and 512MB of RAM, the DS213j offers faster multimedia processing, such as faster thumbnail creation, and enhanced multitasking performance. It features up to 100MB/s read and 70MB/s write speeds for fast data transfer and sharing. The storage device supports Synology Hybrid RAID for balanced storage capacity and data redundancy, and advanced users can configure it with Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1 modes. There are two USB 2.0 ports for adding external hard drives. The server has one Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and supports wake on LAN/WAN.
Not just for data storage and sharing, the DS213j can also be a entertainment center for streaming video, music to your mobile devices via DLNA. It also works as an iTunes Server, Audio Station, Photo Station and Video Station. You can also use Download Station with built-in BT search engine to download files 24/7. Using mobile apps, you can also upload photos and videos to the DiskStation from your phone or tablet.
With Internet connection, the server is available anywhere, anytime. You can use DS photo+, DS audio, and DS video for anywhere multimedia access, DS download, DS file, and DS cloud for seamless file download/access/sync, and DS cam for home security.
