Microsoft LifeCam HD-6000

Microsoft announced three new LifeCam webcams, the HD-5000, HD-5001 and HD-6000 all with 720p HD widescreen sensor and auto focus technology. They also feature Microsoft’s True Color technology that includes face tracking technology.

Pentax introduces its first medium-format digital SLR camera, the Pentax 645D. The camera sports a large 40 Megapixel CCD image sensor that measures 44mmx33mm, which is about 1.7 times larger than 35mm sensors. The 645D is equipped with the PRIME (PENTAX Real Image Engine) II image engine with high-speed data-processing capacity and new algorithm exclusively programmed for medium-format DSLR.

Pentax’s 645D features SAFOX IX + wide-frame autofocus system with 11 sensor points, 77-segment multi-pattern metering, an easy-to-see optical viewfinder and the DR (Dust Removal) II mechanism. It offers Hyper Program, Hyper Manual, HDR (high dynamic range) functions and Sensitivity-Priority and Shutter/Aperture-Priority modes. There is a 3-inch LCD display with AR (Anti-Reflection) coating and dual SD/SDHC memory card slots.

Coby Electronics releases the new CAM5001 720p HD video camcorder that is pretty similar to its brother CAM5000. The new pocket cacmorder features a 5 Megapixel CMOS image sensor, 4x digital zoom, a 2-inch LCD display, 128MB internal memory and a SD/SDHC card slot for up to 16GB of memory card.

The Snapp CAM5001 is able to record 1280×720p HD video at 30fps using XviD codec in AVI format, instead of MPEG4 format used by CAM5000. It has integrated USB plug and HDMI output. It is priced at $79.99.

Along with the CAM5001 and CAM5000, there are also other members in the Snapp camcorder line. Along with the Lumix G2, Panasonic unveils the Lumix DMC-G10, another addition to its line of LUMIX G Micro System Micro Four Thirds Camera. The new G10 is the world’s lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder. It features the same 12.1 Megapixel Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine HD II processor as the G2, but its 3-inch LCD display lack touch-panel and ability to move.

Panasonic officially introduces the new Lumix DMC-G2, the company’s latest Micro Four Thirds that serves as the successor to the Lumix G1. The G2 is the first Micro43 camera to feature a touchscreen for touch-operation allowing users to lock onto a subject for AF tracking, select the part and the size of AF area with the 1-area AF and access menu settings easily.

Mamiya unveils the new DM40 professional digital camera, joining the 33 Megapixel DM33 and 56 Megapixel DM56. The 40 Megapixel DM40 features the new DF camera-core technology offering two user-selectable shutter systems – leaf or focal plane. It offers a peak capture rate of .8 seconds per frame and a sustained capture rate of 60 frames per minute.

JVC offers this Everio GZ-HD500 Full HD camcorder that sits between the 120GB GZ-HD620 with Back-illuminated sensor and the GZ-HM320 with 8GB flash memory. The HD500 has a microSD/SDHC, instead of SD/SDHC, slot in addition to the 80GB hard drive.

The Everio GZ-HD500 features a 1.37 Megapixel sensor for recording 1920×1080p Full HD video at 24Mbps bit ratem and a 20x optical zoom Konica Minolta lens.
