A guy, called “anh”, over at mictopctalk.com has modded the Sony VAIO UX490N UMPC into a device that does almost everything. The original Core 2 Solo U220 1.2GHz processor has been replaced by a more powerful Intel Core 2 Duo U7700 1.33GHz processor overclocked to 1.438GHz; a 128GB RunCore Pro IV SSD replaced the original 48GB SSD, and the Intel 3945ABG WiFi card has been swapped for the wireless-N capable Intel 4965AGN card.

The modder also added Huawei’s E169 3G module, which supports 900/2100MHz HSDPA/UMTS 3G and quad-band GSM network for data, voice and text. The modded VAIO UX490N is loaded with four OSes, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, Windows XP Pro and Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.7.

Acer’s Aspire 5738PG (AS5738PG) is one of the first multiouch notebooks in the market. The Windows 7 device gets a Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, and dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics with 512MB RAM. It has a 15.6-inch multitouch LCD display with 1366×768 resolution.

Finally, the full specifications of the eviGroup Pad (aka Voici Pad) are now revealed. The Atom-powered tablet gets a 10.6-inch touchscreen and supports WiFi 802.11a/b/g and 3G connectivity.

According to hypranet, the Voici Pad will be available in two version, one with Seline AI, 3G and one without. The 3G-less version will include TabletPC tools.

Camangi is going to release its 7-inch WebStation Android tablet next month for $400. The WebStation has a 7-inch 800×480 glass touchscreen display, a 2 Megapixel camera, 0.3 Megapixel webcam, GPS support, WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity, a microSD card slot and USB port.

The Camangi WebStation can also be used as a digital frame thanks to its built-in stand on the back.

Dell updates its Studio 17 notebook by adding multitouch display. The laptop now gets a 17.3-inch multitouch display with LED-backlit and 1600×900 resolution. Starting at $899, the multitouch-enabled Studio 17 can be equipped with Intel Pentium dual core or Core 2 Duo processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, up to dual 1TB hard drive, integrtaed Intel GMA graphics or ATI greaphics card, and optional Blu-ray drive.

Dell’s new Studio 17 will be shipped on 4 December.

Details of Lenovo’s two upcoming notebooks, the ThinkPad X100e and ThinkPad Edge have leaked. The former will be powered by AMD while the latter is available in AMD and Intel versions.

The 11.6-inch ThinkPad X100e is boosted by AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 320GB hard drive. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n and can be equipped with Bluetooth and Qualcomm Gobi or Huawei/Leadcore’s 3G WWAN module. Windows XP or Windows 7 can be preloaded. The price will start at $449.

The ThinkPad Edge, on the other hand, has a 13.3-inch 1366×768 LED-backlight display. It can be equpped with either AMD Turion X2/Neo processor or Intel SU4100/SU7300 ULV processor. Max 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, multi-in-1 media card reader, WiFi connectivity can be expected. Qualcomm Gobi 2000 3G module with GPS will be available as option. The Edge starts at $549.

Both new ThinkPads get multi-gesture touchpad and the Trackpoint. Unlike tradition ThinkPads that always come in black, the new X100e can have a white casing and the Edge can have Red casing.

Asus officially announced its G51J 3D gaming notebook that is equipped with NVIDIA 3D Vision and bundled with specially designed 3D glasses. Powered by Intel Core i7-720QM processor, the G51 3D sports a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260M graphics card and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM.

A new PC builder called Origin PC has just introduced two gaming machines, the GENESIS desktop and the EON18 laptop.

The GENESIS can be powered by Intel’s Core i7/Core i5 or AMD’s Phenom II processors. It is equipped with ATI or NVIDIA’s graphics cards and can get up to triple 1GB NVIDIA GTX285 cards. SSDs in RAID 0, Blu-ray burner, Sound Blaster X-Fi High Definition Surround Sound Audio, liquid cooling are available as options. The GENESIS starts at $1699.

Asus adds to its UL notebook series the new UL30Vt model that measures less than 1-inch. The new device has aluminum alloy structure and brushed aluminum design.

Asus UL30Vt packs an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.4GHz or a Celeron SU2300 1.2GHz processor, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 500GB hard drive. Chinese company Malata launches the R108T convertible tablet PC with a 10.1-inch 1024×600 touchscreen display. The tablet supports Chinese handwriting recognition.

The R108T has standard netbook configurations getting an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, integrated graphics. Dedicated graphics card, probably ION, is available as an option. Other features include WiFi, 1.3 Megapixel camera, multi-in-one card reader, and VGA output.

Acer has made its Aspire Timeline 1820P official in Italy and lists the CULV tablet in Australian website as the 1820PT. Like I said before, you can consider the 1820P/1820PT as the tablet version of the company’s Timeline 1810T or Aspire 1410.

AT&T announced its holiday lineup of 3G-enabled netbooks, including the Samsung GO and Acer Aspire One, both running the latest Windows 7 Starter OS. These 10-inch netbooks are powered by Atom processor, 1GB of memory, integrated graphics and a 160GB hard drive.

They have built-in webcam and speakers. These 3G capable netbooks come equipped with AT&T Communication Manager (ACM) 7.0 software. They are available for $199 after mail-in rebate with a purchase of a two-year AT&T DataConnect plan, 200MB plan for $35 per month or a 5GB plan for $60 per month.

CyberPower announced three new gaming notebooks powered by Intel’s Core i7 Mobile processors with the Intel PM55 Express chipset. These laptops can be equipped with one of the three new Core i7 Mobile processors, Core i7-720QM, 820QM and Extreme 920XM.

NTT East Japan, part of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone (NTT) unveils its Hikari iFrame, an Android-based tablet device that serves as a internet device and a digital photo frame.

Hikari iFrame has a 7-inch touchscreen display and supports WiFi connection. It comes with built-in speaker, a USB port and a SD card slot. NTT East is going release widgets for the device to display internet content.

The Hikari iFrame will be released in Japan in about Q2/Q3 2010.

ITG’s xpPhone is the very first Windows XP mobile phone. Though the device has not been released yet, ITG is going to offer customization option to consumers. According to pocketables, the xp[hone will be available in 4.3-inch, 4.8-inch and 7-inch screen sizes and can be loaded with Windows 7 OS, instead of Windows XP.

These options make the xpPhone more like a MID with 2G/3G connectivity. Like the original xpPhone, the device sports an AMD super mobile processor, up to 2GB of RAM and either up to 64GB or 120GB hard drive.

Innovative Converged Devices (ICD) officially announced the development of the Vega, an Android 2.0-based tablet device. The Vega will be available in 7-inch, 11-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. It is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB Flash memory.

The ICD Vega tablet supports not only Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi 802.11b/g but also include 2G/3G cellular networks. It has a 1.3 Megapixel webcam, a microSD card slot and USB 2.0 port. The Android device is equipped with Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and dual digital microphones.

ICD will provide full specifications and demo the Vega device at the 2010 International CES Show, which takes place January 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center/Las Vegas Hilton.
