Lenovo introduces its second generation Classmate+ PCs based on Intel Learning Series. Available in both clamshell and convertible laptop form factors, the new Classmate+ laptops offer students, teachers and IT administrators more ruggedness and long battery life. They have a keyboard with enhanced water resistance, a tougher corner design, reinforced steel hinge and strengthened DC jack.

Dell announced at the CES 2012 its all-new XPS 13 Ultrabook, a 13.3-inch ultra slim laptop with an edge-to-edge, display. Thanks to the near-frameless display and slim bezel, Dell packs a 13.3-inch screen in similar size of an 11-inch product. The super-thin notebook measures less than a quarter-inch at its thinnest point, and weighs just 1.36kg. It features a precision machined aluminum lid and a carbon fiber composite base

Along with the new ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and T430u, Lenovo also expands the ThinkPad Edge line with the new Edge S430 premium notebook for professionals. The new S430 is the first Windows laptop to get Intel Thunderbolt technology, which allows users to “transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds and backup a year of continuous MP3 playback in just over 10 minutes”.

Lenovo introduces its first business ultrabook, the ThinkPad T430u that “equips business users with the same thin and light designs found in consumer ultrabooks without sacrificing business-class performance”. Powered by choices of Intel Core processors, and integrated Intel or NVIDIA graphics. It comes with either up to 1TB of hard drive or SSD storage. There is a 14-inch 1366×768 display.

As the market of tablet grows, netbook seems dying but Asus thinks the other way introducing the new Eee PC 1225B netbook. Powered by AMD’s Fusion E450 or C60 processor, the 1225B gets AMD Radeon HD 6320 or AMD Radeon HD 6290 for graphics and up to 4GB of memory.

Gigabyte adds a new models to its Booktop line, the 11.6-inch T1132N with a convertiable design. With the optional rotatable docking station, you can even convert the T1132 into a desktop PC and adds a DVD SuperMulti burer. It comes with a 11.6-nich capacitive multitouch display with LED backlight and 1366×768 resolution.

Dell announced the new XPS 14z, which is the thinnest fully featured 14-inch laptop featuring an internal optical drive. The 14z is a ultraportable notebook that measures less than an inch thin and Dell fits a 14-inch 1366×768 HD display into a 13-inch laptop form factor with a unique design.

In addition to the Series 7 all-in-one, Samsung also releases the Series 7 slate PC in the US market. The new Series 7 Slate is designed for on-the-go- users who need a slim and lightweight PC running full version of Windows OS. The Series 7 is powered by Intel’s Core i5-2467M processor with 4GB of RAM and integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics.

Toshiba announced the Portege Z830 series, its first Ultrabook powered by 2nd gen Intel Core processors. The new Ultrabook is just 0.63-inch (15.9mm) thick and weighs less than 2.5 pounds, making it about 20 percent lighter and 40 percent thinner than the ultraportable Portégé R830 Series. It has magnesium alloy chassis with honeycomb structure for rigidity.

Dell announced the new Inspiron 13z and Inspiron 14z slim yet powerful notebook PCs. Both of them are powered by 2nd gen Intel Core i3/i5 processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 320GB/500GB hard drive or 128GB SSD. They are ideal for school papers, company reports, mobile entertainment, keeping in touch with friends and pursuing your passions.
