Korean cellphone maker, LG officially announced the GW880 OPhone for China Mobile,  the largest mobile network operator in the world. The GW880 is actually the forth smartphone running the Android-based OPhone platform (aka Open Mobile System).

The LG GW880 features a 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth and support for China Mobile’s Mobile Market. This new OPhone includes also CMMB Mobile TV module. It supports the Chinese 3G TD-SCDMA standard.

Emblaze Mobile unveiled in London its ELSE (known then as Edelweiss) touchscreen smartphone. The device is based on the ELSE INTUITION, a mobile platform based on ACCESS Linix Platform 3.0, jointly developed by ACCESS and Emblaze.

The sleek, stylish, black ELSE is equipped with TI’s OMAP 3430 (ARM Cortex A8) processor, that powers also iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre and Motorola Droid, 256MB RAM and 16GB internal flash memory. It has a 3.47-inch 480×854 capacitive touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with advanced stabilization technology and 480p video recording at 30fps. AT&T and HP is officially launching the HP iPAQ Glisten business-oriented smartphone, which is previously called HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian. The bar-type QWERTY phone runs Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and gets a full QWERTY keyboard and 5-way directional pad.

The iPAQ Glisten comes with a 2.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 3.1 Megapixel camera, support for A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. You can also find a microSD card slot.

This latest businese phone from HP is powered by a Qualcomm 7200A processor, 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM. It offers microUSB connector and a 3.5mm audio jack. The HP iPAQ Glisten will be available in the coming weeks for $179.99 after $50 rebate with two-year agreement, smartphone data plan.

Nokia announced two new slider mobile phones, the Nokia 6700 slide and Nokia 7230. The former has a modern, compact design and aluminum cover while the latter is more stylish and slim.

The Nokia 6700 slide features a 2.2-inch QVGA LCD display, a 5 Megapixel camera with video recording, Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, Bluetooth, media player and FM tuner and a microSD card slot. The phone runs Symbian S60 OS.

Nokia’s 7230, on the other hand, runs S40. It gets a 2.4-inch display, a 3.2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and FM tuner.

These new Nokia phones support tri-band 3G WCDMA and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks. The 6700 slide will come in six colors – aluminum, pink, petrol-blue, red, lime and purple while the 7230 will be available in graphite and hot pink. Coming in Q1 2010, they are priced at Euro 160 and Euro 100 respectively.

It looks like Telus will soon get the LG IQ (aka LG Monaco) smartphone, which has been spotted with Telus logo. The IQ is a SnapDragon-powered phone running, unlike previously rumored, Windows Mobile 6.5 OS with LG’s S-Class UI.

Verizon is going to release the CDMA version Samsung Omnia II touchscreen smartphone on 2 December 2009. The Omina II is running the new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and comes with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. Social networking applications for YouTube, Facebook and MySpace are pre-loaded.

Like the original GSM/UMTS Omnia II, Verizon’s Omnia II has a 3.7-inch AMOED touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash and video recording, 8GB internal memory, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The handset supports playback of DivX and XviD video files. It has a microSD card slot for expansion. Opera 9.5 web browser is included as well.

Japanese firm Princeton brings iPhone users in Japan the PIP-CK1 8x optical zoom lens add-on for iPhone 3G/3GS. The lens comes with a tripod for holding your iPhone.

Princeton PIP-CK1 is available in White (PIP-CK1W) and Black (PIP-CK1B) to match the color of the iPhone. It will be released in early December for 3980 Yen.

AT&T and Pantech launched in the US the new Impact mobile phone, which is first announced in early October. The side-flip Impact has a haptic touchpad and a small screen outside. Flip open of the phone reveals the QWERTY keyboard and a larger color display.

Online music streaming services Spotify launches its Spotify for Symbian application, bringing Spotify Mobile to millions of mobile phones. Palm’s Pixi is the company’s second webOS-based smartphone after the Pre. The Pixi has a bar-type form factor and includes QWERTY keyboard. Dell announced that China Mobile, world’s largest mobile network operator, will release the Dell Mini 3i smartphone by the end of this month. The Mini 3i is a slim multitouch smartphone based on China Mobile’s OPhone, an Android-based system, and Mobile Market plarforms.

The device supports quad-band GSM/EDGE networks. It features a 3.5-inch 640×360 touchscreen, a 3 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash, GPS, Bluetooth, micorSD/SDHC card slot and mini USB port.

The Dell Mini 3i supports access to China Mobile’s Mobile Market suite of services and applications as well as China’s popular Internet sites including 51.com, Kaixin and Renren. It measures 58.35 x 122 x 11.7mm and weighs less and 105 grams.

CrackBerry has posted the first live shots of the new BlackBerry Pearl 9100 (codename Striker) 3G smartphone. As you can see, the the 9100 gets a touchpad and a SureType keyboard, like other Pearls. It has a color display and a camera with LED flash.

Samsung is going to introduce its new Diva design line and two phones have been showcased, the Olivia S5150 and the S7070. The former is a shony clamshell phone for ladies with a 2.2-inch QVGA display, a secondary display, a 3 Megapixel camera and mirror casing.

The S7070, on the other hand, is a touchscreen phone with a 3-inch display, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, FM tuner, microSD card slot and TouchWiz UI.

We can expect these phones to come in Q1 2010 but no price has been announced.

Acer’s Liquid A1 is the Taiwan company’s first Android smartphone. Though not yet released, the Liquid is now available for pre-order on Expansys and Clove UK for US$$529.99 and GBP286 respectively.

You can consider that phone as the Android version of Acer neoTouch as they have similar hardware. Like the neoTouch, the Liquid is boosted by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. In addition to the T-Mobile Pulse/U8220, Huawei has another Android phone called U8230. Recently, the phone has been previewed and tested by French site, pointgphone.com.

The Huawei U8230 sports a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz processor and 128MB RAM. It gets a 3.5-inch capacitiv touchscreen with 320×480 resolution and a 3.2 Megapixel camera. The device, like the Magic and Hero, has a trackball. It’s 2.5mm jack simply makes it less attractive.
Conclusion from pointgphone:

The Huawei U8230 is clearly not the Android smartphone of the year. That said, if it comes at a fair price and if these defects do not seem insurmountable (low internal storage, 3.2 mega pixels, 2.5 mm jack), he still ample satisfy you! Despite a rather classical aesthetics, there was still the mouth and if it does not spark at technical or application, it remains very competitive compared to what you can find on the market today.

I think he clearly has a card to play today but the competition will be fierce with the models announced for the coming months.

According to Eldar Murtazin, Editor-in-Chief of mobile-review, Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Kurara smartphone will be equipped with ARM Coretex A8 processor and PowerVR graphics processor, with 256MB of RAM.

The Kurara is a handset running the Symbian S60 OS. It is expected to be released in February 2010.

Nokia finally releases its N900 in the US market. The N900 is a mobile device running the Linux-based Maemo 5 platform. It has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, GPS support with geotagging and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
