Boost Mobile, Sprint’s non-contract wireless brand, launches the LG Marquee mid-range Android smartphone with a ultra thin design. The slim device is just 0.36-inch thick. It sports a 4-inch 700-nit NOVA touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel main camera with 720p video capability and a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera.

The Marquee runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS on a 1GHz processor. It has 4GB internal storage and supports microSD card slot. For connectivity, you can find GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth with stereo support and WiFi. Sprint is going to launch the Kyocera DuraPlus, an ultra-rugged mobile phone with push-to-talk capabilities. The candy-bar device features military-grade durability, cartified to Military Standard 810G for resistance to dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, blowing rain and water immersion (up to 30 minutes in up to 1 meter of water).

The DuraPlus comes with a color display and a front-ported speakerphone that allows you to talk and hear in noisy environments. It has an embedded LED flashlight with a dedicated power button to help “navigate power outages, read blueprints in unlit areas or for emergency response personnel working in dark conditions. Its powerful 1650mAb battery provides up to 9.5 hours of talk time, and users may get the optional 2300mAh battery if they need more.

Samsung is adding to the GALAXY line the new mid-range GALAXY S Advance smartphone. The new phone, as its name tells, is an advanced version of the GALAXY S. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 768MB of RAM. It will be shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. The Advanced GALAXY S has a curved glass design that enhances handling of the phone and fits the user’s facial form easily and naturally.

The GALAXY S Advance has a 4-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED touchscreen and supports Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS/GPS and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. Verizon and Motorola have introduced the new Droid RAZR MAXX, an enhanced version of the RAZR with extended battery life. It includes all the features of the RAZR and packs a 3300mAh battery for over 21 hours of talk time and up to 15.8 days standby time on one single charge. Even with a bigger battery, the MAXX is still slim at just 8.99mm.

The RAZR MAXX is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and comes 16GB of ROM and a pre-installed 16GB microSD card. It features a 4.3-inch 540×960 Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen, a 8 Megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, LED flash, auto focus, a 1.3 Megapixel front camera for video chat. During the CES 2012, Verizon Wireless showed the upcoming LG Spectrum LTE 4G smartphone with a 4.5-inch Ture HD IPS touchscreen with 1280×720 and 329ppi screen density. The new phone supports Verizon’s LTE 4G mobile network and gives users access to the ESPN ScoreCenter application for ScoreCenter stats, images and videos in 720p HD. Its screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

The Spectrum is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade available the first half of 2012). Verizon and Motorola are launching another DROID smartphone, the Motorola DROID 4, which is the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone. Like its predecessors (DROID, DROID 2, DROID 3), Motorola’s new Android device packs a QWERTY keyboard in a slim body. The DROID 4 adds support for Verizon’s 4G LTE mobile network for high-speed data.

The Motorola DROID 4 is powered by a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor and 1GB of RAM. It sports a 4-inch qHD touchscreen with scratch and scrape resistant glass, and its five-row QWERTY keyboard features a PC-like layout and edge-lit keys for fast, precise typing, even in the dark. Other than 1GB internal memory, the QWERTY phone supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB. The 8 Megapixel rear camera is capable of 1080p Full HD video recording, and there is a 1.3 Megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video recording. HDMI output is included for mirroring 1080p video on HDTV.

Sony Ericsson (going to drop Ericsson) announced at the CES 2012 the new Xperia S, which according to the company is the “first smartphone from the new Xperia NXT series – next generation smartphones from Sony”. As the next flagship of the Xperia lineup, the new phone is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz MSM8260 processor with 1GB of RAM. The new Xperia’s transparent element at the base creates an iconic silhouette where the display is emphasized and underlined. In addition, it provides illumination effects and integrates the antenna components.

The Xperia S sports a 4.3-inch HD resolution 1280×720 Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine. The display gets shatter proof sheet on scratch-resistant glass. Polaroid has just announced its new SC1630 Smart Camera at the CES 2012. While Polaroid is known for making instant cameras, the new SC1630 is not just a camera but combines smartphone with a 16 Megapixel camera. It features a 16 Megapixel CCD sensor and 3x optical zoom lens and offers 18 scene modes.

The Polaroid SC1630 comes with a 3.2-inch 800×480 touchscreen display for easy control and viewing images. Huawei announced at the CES 2012 the world’s slimmest smatphone, the Ascend P1 S that measures just 6.68mm thin. Powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 Cortex-A9 processor, the Ascend P1 S runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 940×540 resolution and Gorilla Glass.

AT&T launches its third 4G LTE smartphone, the LG Nitro HD which is the carrier’s first smartphone to have  a true HD screen. The new Nitro HD comes with a 4.5-inch True HD AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) touchscreen with 1280×720 HD resolution (ie.329ppi) and 500 nit brightness. It supports AT&T’s LTE 4G high-speed data network.

The Nitro HD boasts a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core processor and runs Android 2.3.5. It has a 8 Megapixel main camera, a 1.3 Megapixel front camera for video chat, Bluetooth, WiFi connenctivity with support for WiFi Direct, DLNA for wireless streaming to compatible devices. In addition to 4GB onboard storage, the phone comes with a 16GB microSD memory card.

The LG Nitro HD is available for $249.99 with a two-year contract.

Following the first PRADA phone and PRADA II, LG and PRADA extend their partnership, introducing the PRADA Phone by LG 3.0. Styled with PRADA’s clean and sharp design philosophy, the handset features a full glossy touchscreen to the front and PRADA’s signature Saffiano pattern to the back, all finished in classic black. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread OS with a PRADA UI, with a future scheduled upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The PRADA 3.0 comes with a 4.3-inch NOVA touchscreen with 800×480 resolution and 800-nits of brightness, a 8 Megapixel camera, 8GB internal memory. The phone is just 8.5mm thick and packs a 1540mAh battery.
