In addition to Motorola DROID, Verizon’s second Android phone is the HTC DROID ERIS. As reported before, the DROID serves as Verizon’s brand for its Android lineup. The HTC ERIS sports a Qualcomm MSM7600 528MHz processor, 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM. It runs Android Cupcake OS and includes the HTC Sense UI.

The DROID ERIS features a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, a trackball, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS support and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. It has a microSD/SDHC card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset offers seamless compatibility with Google services like Google Maps, Gmail, Google Search and more. Other than the Samsung Convoy, Verizon launches also the new LG Chocolate Touch music phone that is equipped with Dolby Mobile audio enhancement technology. The Dolby Mobile equalizer offers Sound Space for Headphones, Natural Bass, High-Frequency Enhancer and Sound Level Controller to enhance listeners experience.

Verizon launches Samsung Convoy (SCH-U640), a rugged Push-to-Talk mobile phone that meets the military specifications 810F standards for shock and dust resistance, vibration, salt fog, humidity, solar radiation, altitude and low and high temperature storage.

The Convoy is a clamshell that comes in Charcoal grey. It has a an internal color display and an external display, a 2 Megapixel camera with Night Shot, Bluetooth 2.1 and support for EVDO Rev.A 3G network.

RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone (aka Aries)  finally hits Sprint and Verizon Wireless. This new Curve is basically the CDMA version of the Curve 8520. Like the 8520, the new 8530 features a 320×240 LCD display, a 2 Megapixel camera and a QWERTY keyboard.

The Curve 8530 is boosted by a 528MHz procesor and 256MB RAM. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g as well as Bluetooth 2.1. The smartphone includes also GPS/A-GPS support and BlackBerry Maps. The built-in media player supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV9 and most audio formats. It offers a microSD/SDHC card slot for expansion. The smartphone supports dual band CDMA 2000 1X EVDO 3G network.

Sony Ericsson officially announced its XPERIA X10 (rumored as X3 or X5) Android-based smartphone. As the company’s first Android phone, the X10 includes the new UX (user experience) platform that “lets consumers organize everything and discover more with the most open, human and intuitive user experience”.

Sony Ericsson has brough a all-new UI to the Android platform as part of the new UX. The X10 includes the Timescape that lets all your communication with a person come together in one place – Facebook, Twitter, emails, photos, text messages – all gathered; the Mediascape for mobile entertainment.

Motorola made its Milestone Android phone official in the Western Europe market. The Milestone is basically the GSM/UMTS version of the Motorola DROID. It has most of the features of the DROID and even adds support for multitouch control but it lacks the Google Maps Navigation beta application, instead it includes the MOTONAV trail version. Some other Google services, such as Google Latitude, Google Maps, Google Search by Voice, are not included as well.

The Motorola Milestone supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, dual-band 900/2100 WCDMA and HSPA networks. Finally Verizon and Motorola officially announced the DROID by Motorola smartphone that is the first to be powered by Android 2.0 (Eclair) OS. As reported before, the Motorola Droid has a 3.7-inch 480×854 touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel auto-focus camera with Dual LED flash, and a side-slide QWERTY keyboard.

The DROID is boosted by a ARM Cortex A8 550MHz processor. It supports GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. The Android smartphone includes Google Mobile Services, including the latest Google Map Navigation Beta application. The DROID is equipped with Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, ambient light sensor as well as eCompass.

Nokia introduces the Nokia 6788 for China Mobile, which is the company’s first TD-SCDMA 3G device. The 6788 features a 2.8-inch QVGA display and a 5 Megapixel camera with dual LED flash.

The Nokia 6788 is a slider phone and is inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and architecture, incorporating Chinese design elements including traditional Chinese patterns on the back of the slide and the battery cover. It run Symbian 60 (S60) platform.

The Nokia 6788 will be released in December 2009. It comes in two colour variants – black with red highlights (traditionally represents something of a premium flavour), and a brown version with a pinch of gold (which represents aristocracy).

T-Mobile and Sony Ericsson have partnered to launch a new stylish clamshell mobile phone that known as Equinox (aka Sony Ericsson TM717), which is in fact T-Mobile’s version of T707, the Sharapova Phone/.The 3G device supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual band HSDPA 2100/1700 networks.

Samsung Russia officially announced the Galaxy Spica i5700 (aka GT-I5700, Galaxy Lite)Android smartphone, the little brother of the i7500 Galaxy. The Spica is powered by a 800MHz processor and 128MB  memory and runs the Google Android OS.

Motorola’s Droid/Sholes is probably one of the most awaited Android smartphone. It turns out, the Droid is the brand name Verizon’s Android lineup and the second model will be the HTC Droid Eris (aka HTC Desire).

According to Engadget, the Desire will hit the market as the Droid Eris and will be released on 6 November while Motorola’s Droid will marketed simply as Droid. The Eris features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera, a microSD card slot and support for CDMA EVDO 3G. Like the Magic, it gets a trackball for navigation.

The Motorola Droid (aka Sholes) is the cellphone maker’s second Android-based smartphone after the CLIQ. Boosted by a Texas Instruments OMAP3430 550MHz processor, 256M RAM and a dedicated PowerVR GPU, the Motorola Droid supports CDMA Rev.A network (GSM/WCDMA will also available), GPS and WiFi.

The Droid gets a 3.7-inch 854×480 touchscreen display, a side-slide QWERTY keyboard, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with dual LED flash, touch-sensitive buttons and a 3.5mm headset jack. Unlike other MOTO phones, the Droid looks pretty stylish and is one of the slimmest QWERTY devices. The phone is nicely built, according to BGR, “it’s mostly metal, and while it’s heavy, it gives you a reassuring quality feel that you just don’t find much nowadays as handsets get thinner, lighter, smaller, and cheaper.”
