Palm’s Pixi is the company’s second webOS-based smartphone after the Pre. The Pixi has a bar-type form factor and includes QWERTY keyboard. It has a 2.63-inch multitouch LCD display, a 2 Megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB internal memory, GPS support and Bluetooth. It is now available from Amazon for just $24.99 and, of course, you need to get also a new Sprint service contract.

The Palm Pixi supports dual band CDMA and EVDO Rev.A 3G networks but lack WiFi support. It includes the Palm Synergy integrattion with Facebook, Google and other web services. It’s media player supports H.264/H.263, MPEG4 and common music files. The handset offers access to Amazon MP3 Store as well.

Dell announced that China Mobile, world’s largest mobile network operator, will release the Dell Mini 3i smartphone by the end of this month. The Mini 3i is a slim multitouch smartphone based on China Mobile’s OPhone, an Android-based system, and Mobile Market plarforms.

The device supports quad-band GSM/EDGE networks. It features a 3.5-inch 640×360 touchscreen, a 3 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash, GPS, Bluetooth, micorSD/SDHC card slot and mini USB port.

The Dell Mini 3i supports access to China Mobile’s Mobile Market suite of services and applications as well as China’s popular Internet sites including 51.com, Kaixin and Renren. It measures 58.35 x 122 x 11.7mm and weighs less and 105 grams.

CrackBerry has posted the first live shots of the new BlackBerry Pearl 9100 (codename Striker) 3G smartphone. As you can see, the the 9100 gets a touchpad and a SureType keyboard, like other Pearls. It has a color display and a camera with LED flash.

Acer’s Liquid A1 is the Taiwan company’s first Android smartphone. Though not yet released, the Liquid is now available for pre-order on Expansys and Clove UK for US$$529.99 and GBP286 respectively.

You can consider that phone as the Android version of Acer neoTouch as they have similar hardware. Like the neoTouch, the Liquid is boosted by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. It has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, microSD card slot. It supports WCDMA/HSPA and quad-band GSM networks.

In addition to the T-Mobile Pulse/U8220, Huawei has another Android phone called U8230. Recently, the phone has been previewed and tested by French site, pointgphone.com.

The Huawei U8230 sports a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz processor and 128MB RAM. It gets a 3.5-inch capacitiv touchscreen with 320×480 resolution and a 3.2 Megapixel camera. The device, like the Magic and Hero, has a trackball. It’s 2.5mm jack simply makes it less attractive.
Conclusion from pointgphone:

The Huawei U8230 is clearly not the Android smartphone of the year. That said, if it comes at a fair price and if these defects do not seem insurmountable (low internal storage, 3.2 mega pixels, 2.5 mm jack), he still ample satisfy you! Despite a rather classical aesthetics, there was still the mouth and if it does not spark at technical or application, it remains very competitive compared to what you can find on the market today.

I think he clearly has a card to play today but the competition will be fierce with the models announced for the coming months.

According to Eldar Murtazin, Editor-in-Chief of mobile-review, Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Kurara smartphone will be equipped with ARM Coretex A8 processor and PowerVR graphics processor, with 256MB of RAM.

The Kurara is a handset running the Symbian S60 OS. It is expected to be released in February 2010.

Nokia finally releases its N900 in the US market. The N900 is a mobile device running the Linux-based Maemo 5 platform. It has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, GPS support with geotagging and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The N900 is equipped with an ARM Cortex-A8 processor and 1GB of RAM. It has 32GB internal memory. WiFi and HSPA 3.5G are supported. The official price of the unlocked Nokia N900 is $649 but you can get one from Amazon for $559.99 $479.99 , after discount and rebate.

Other than the LG Shine II, AT&T’s another new phone is the Blackberry Curve 8520 QWERTY smartphone. This new Curve supports just Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE cellular networks. It has a 2.64-inch LCD display, a 2 Megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi.

The Curve 8520 sports a 512 MHz processor, and 256 MB of Flash memory. It’s media player supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV9 video and common audio files. The QWERTY phone will be available in the coming weeks for $99.99 after mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.

The XPERIA X10 is Sony Ericsson’s first smartphone running the Android OS. The X10 sports Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with a large 4-inch 480×854 touchscreen display, a 8 Megapixel camera, GPS/A-GPS support, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

This is the APhone, a new Chinese Shanzhai phone that tries combine iPhone with the Android OS. The APhone has a design similar to iPhone but replace the home button with a trackball. Though running the Android 1.5 OS, the APhone offers an iPhone-like UI.

ITG’s xpPhone is the very first Windows XP mobile phone. Though the device has not been released yet, ITG is going to offer customization option to consumers. According to pocketables, the xp[hone will be available in 4.3-inch, 4.8-inch and 7-inch screen sizes and can be loaded with Windows 7 OS, instead of Windows XP.

These options make the xpPhone more like a MID with 2G/3G connectivity. Like the original xpPhone, the device sports an AMD super mobile processor, up to 2GB of RAM and either up to 64GB or 120GB hard drive.

No word yet on launch date and pricing, however.

Motorla is going to launch in China its MT710 smartphone, which runs the Android-based OPhone/Open Mobile System. Like Dell’s Mini 3i, Motorola’s device will be released through China Mobile, the largest mobile network operator in the world.

Motorola’s OPhone features a 3.7-inch 854×480 touchscreen and supports TD-SCDMA 3G network and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G networks. WAPI (Chinese version of WiFi) is also included. No word yet on availability.

Dell officially announced its Mini 3i (aka Mini3) smartphone running China Mobile’s Android-based Open Mobile System (aka OPhone), which according to PC maker, is “the world’s smallest Dell”. The Mini3i will be released in China through China Mobile and in Brazil through Claro. It is also heading to other regions and countries via other leading global telecom providers.

Dell’s Mini 3i features a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen and comes with a special stylus, a 3 Megapixel camera. China’s version of Mini 3i will not include 3G and WiFi support while the Brazilian Mini 3iX will probably do.

The Dell Mini 3 has been unboxed by Chinese site PCOnline. Instead of offering a 3.5mm jack, Dell’s first Android device provides just miniUSB port and includes a miniUSB-to-3.5mm jack adapter.

ViewSonic is going to release in China its V901 smartphone running the newest Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. The V901 is powered by a Marvell PXA310 processor, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM. It gets a 3.6-inch 480×800 touchscreen display and a 5 Megapixel camera.

ViewSonic’s V901 supports CDMA EVDO Rev.A 3G network. It also includes Bluetooth, microSD card slot and GPS support. Interesting, as you can see in the picture, the V901 features also TouchWiz UI. The phone will come in Q4 2009.

After Google’s Android, Samsung introduces its own open mobile platform, called the bada, which means ‘ocean’ in Korean. According to the Korean cellphone maker, the bada platform is designed to bring a fun and diverse mobile experience to consumers and is simple for developers to use, meaning it’s one of the most developer-friendly environments available, particularly in the area of applications using Web services.

Samsung is going to unveils its bada SDK to developer in an official launch event in London, UK in December.

As you may know, Acer has announced its first Android smartphone, the Liquid, few weeks ago, without mentioning details of the phone. theunwired is able to get the device and gives us more details and some shots of the handset.

The Liquid is the first Android phone to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. Like its WM6.5 cousin neoTouch, the Liquid is boosted by the 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon, but running under-clocked at 768MHz. It packs 256MB RAM and 512MB Flash ROM. The devices runs Android 1.6 Donut.

Acer’s Liquid has a 3.5-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS support, and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. The phone comes with built-in digital compass, G-Sensor and ambient light sensor. It supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA networks.

What you see above is a mysterious Android smartphone called Saygus VPhone V1. As you can see, the V1 is QWERTY phone. The above photo also shows an interface that looks like HTC’s Sense UI – semi-circular pad at the bottom of the home screen.

The VPhone V1 is equipped with a Marvell PXA310 624MHz processor, a 3.5-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus, Bluetooth and WiFi. The V1 is a CDMA phone. We can expect the VPhone to come in early 2010.

In addition to Motorola DROID, Verizon’s second Android phone is the HTC DROID ERIS. As reported before, the DROID serves as Verizon’s brand for its Android lineup. The HTC ERIS sports a Qualcomm MSM7600 528MHz processor, 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM. It runs Android Cupcake OS and includes the HTC Sense UI.

The DROID ERIS features a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, a trackball, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS support and WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. It has a microSD/SDHC card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset offers seamless compatibility with Google services like Google Maps, Gmail, Google Search and more. It gets Flash Lite player as well.

The HTC DROID ERIS supports dual-band 800/1900MHz, CDMA2000 1xRTT/1xEVDO Rev. A networks. It is available from Verizon for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract.
