Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 Android PMP 2

Samsung is going to release in the US market its Galaxy Player 4 and Galaxy Player 5 Android-powered portable media players. Unveiled at the MWC 2011, the 4-inch and 5-inch Galaxy Players run Android 2.2 (upgradeable to Gingerbread 2.3) with Adobe Flash 10.1. They have a similar design as the company’s Galaxy S smartphone.

Sony expands its line of digital voice recorders with three new models, the ICD-SX712D, ICD-UX512 and ICD-PX312. All these recorders have 2GB built-in memory, a microSD/M2 card slot and have USB port for PC connection. They include Intelligent Noise Cut function and the ICD-SX712D and ICD-UX512 feature S-Microphone System for high sensitivity with less noise. PX312 comes with a mono microphone.

Other than new flagship Galaxy S II smartphone and the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, Samsung also brings the Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and WiFi 5.0 Android-based portable media players to the MWC 2011, to compete with Apple’s iPod touch. The former looks just like the original Galaxy S and has 4-inch Super Clear LCD touchscreen while the latter is like an enlarged Galaxy S II with a 5-inch large touchscreen display with 800×480 resolution.

LG is launching its first portable Blu-ray player, the BP650 with Ethernet LAN for access to online content. The player does Blu-ray playback and DVD upscaling, and supports Dolby True HD. Though without WiFi, the BP650 has Ethernet LAN port and offers NetCast support for access to online services and content.
