AT&T announced the launch of Samsung Galaxy Appeal, the first smartphone offered with the carrier’s pre-paid GoPhone service. The Appeal is a side-slider QWERTY smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. As an entry-level device, it is boosted by a Qualcomm MSM7225A 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM. According to Samsung, the handset’s plastic parts are made of 80-percent recycled material and it ships with reduced packaging material, cutting back on paper usage.

LG is launching soon in Korea the new Optimus LTE2 (LG-F160S) Android smartphone. What the phone selling is its massive 2GB of RAM, the amount we can’t find on any other smartphones on the market. The LTE2 will have a 4.7-inch True HD IPS touchscreen LCD display with 1280×720 HD resolution. It is equipped with a 2150mAh battery to provide 40% longer battery life than the Optimus LTE.

Sony Xperia GX

Sony Mobile announced two new LTE smartphones for the Japanese market, the Xperia GX and Xperia SX, joining the Xperia NX and Xperia acro HD. Both of them support LTE mobile network and delivers a download speed of up to 75Mbps, and the SX is the world’s lightest LTE smartphone weighing just 95g. They are powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The GX features a curved design like the Xperia Arc, with a matte texture and slimline body.

At the CTIA Wireless 2012, Verizon announced the HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE, its latest 4G LTE smartphone. As the follow-up to the DROID INCREDIBLE II, the new handset sports a more powerful dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 processor. It features a 4-inch Super LCD qHD touchscreen display and a 8 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash.The DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE supports Verizon’s 4G LTE service ans includes Mobile Hotspot function to share high-speed connection with up to 10 WiFi devices.

Along with the waterproof Hydro, Kyocera also brings the Rise C5155 to the CTIA Wireless 2012, which is a smartphone with slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Except for the keyboard and form factor, the Rise is almost identical to the Hydro, though it is not waterproof. It sports the same Qualcomm MSM8655 SnapDragon 1GHz processor and also gets 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM.

Kyocera announced at the CTIA Wireless 2012 its new Hydro C5170 waterproof Android smartphone. It is IPX5 certified for protection against sprayed water such as rain, and is also IPX7 certified for protection against immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes. The phone is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon MSM8655 processor with 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Swype keyboard pre-loaded.

AT&T introduces the first 4G LTE Windows Phone in the world, the Samsung Focus 2 (model SGH-I667UWAATT), at the CTIA 2012. Powered by a 1.4GHz processor, the handset runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system. The second generation Focus features a 4-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED touchscreen display, anda 5 Megapixel with autofocus and HD 720p video recording and a VGA front camera for video chat. As the first LTE Windows Phone, it works on LTE dual-band 4/17 network and supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS 3G as well.

Finally, Samsung unveiled its long-waited, long-rumored flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. According to the phone maker, the phone is “designed for humans and inspired by nature,” which “recognizes your voice, understands your intention, and lets you share a moment instantly and easily”. Unlike the Galaxy S II with a more rectangular shape, the third generation of Galaxy S has a pebble-like shape and looks a bit like the Galaxy Nexus.

As Samsung is announcing its new Galaxy S III smartphone on 3 May at 7PM at its Unpacked 2012 event in London, lets have a round-up of rumors about the company’s next flagship. There are several leaked shots of the device, and seems there will be more than one version of the phone with different designs. Some shots indicates a device with a big home button in the middle with menu and back buttons on each of two sides underneath a big touchscreen, while some others show a Galaxy S II-like unit with no physical buttons.
