WD (Western Digital) expands the VelociRaptor series with the new 1TB model. Designed for high-performance PCs, Mac computers and professional workstations, the VelociRaptor operates at 10,000RPM with 64MB cache and use SATA III 6Gbps for optimized performance. It uses Advanced Format Technology to achieve capacities up to 1 TB.

G-Technology by Hitachi ships its G-Raid with Thunderbolt, a dual-drive RAID-0 external storage device designed specificially for professional content creation applications. The high-capacity and super-speed drive uses the 10Gbps Thunderbolt technology by Intel, which delivers double the data transfer rates of USB 3.0 and over 12 times faster than Firewire 800; and is equipped with up to two 4TB 7200RPM Deskstar hard drives, which operate in RAID 0 mode for maximum performance.

Intel announced its new SSD 330 Series of solid state drive using SATA 6Gbps interface, which is designed to provide budget-conscious consumers with a more affordable entry into the accelerated storage performance of SSDs. Based on Intel’s 25nm MLC NAND flash memory and using SATA III 6Gbps, the SSD 330 utilizes SandForce;s SF-2281 controllers, instead of Intel’s own chip.

Though LiteON is not the brand we often see on consumer SSD products, it has a range of OEM products that are being released with Plextor branding, including M3S, M2S. The firm has now brought its new series of consumer product, the E200 series solid state drive. Using SATA III 6Gbps high-speed interface, the SSD also includes True Speed technology for sustained performance.

Crucial launches its Adrenaline solid state cache solution, which is a upgrade kit for you to enhance the performance of your PC. The Adrenaline is designed to “provides users with the best of both worlds: SSD-like performance with the high capacity of a traditional hard drive, all at an affordable cost.” Basically, the solution works with your existing hard drive to boot your Windows 7-based PC up to twice as fast and increase data access speeds by up to eight times.

Synology DiskStation DS112

Synology introduces two new DiskStation NAS servers, the 4-bay DS412+ for small and medium businesses and the all-in-one 1-bay DS112 for office and workgroup environment. Both servers include SuperSpeed USB 3.0 for faster transfer speeds. They come with DiskStation Manager 4.0 and supports cross-platform file sharing, including mobile devices.

Western Digital updates its My Passport line of portable hard drive, launching the first ever 2 TB capacity in a portable drive. The new My Passport gets a new enclosure design and is specially-engineered to make the outer shell more resistant to scratches and fingerprints. It comes in white, black, silver, blue and red.

Western Digital (WD) launches its new MyBook Thunderbolt Duo dual-drive storage system, which is the company’s first external hard drive to use Thunderbolt technology. The Duo is available in 4TB and 6TB capacities. With two hard drives, users can configure the system to run in RAID 0 striping mode for max speeds, or in RAID 1 for double-safe data protection. Of course, you can also set them to JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) to use as two individual drives.

Toshiba announced the new EXCERIA line of SDHC/SDXC memory cards that offers the world’s fastest transfer rates at up to 95MB/s. Toshiba’s new SD cards are fully compliant with the SD Memory Card Standard Ver.3.0 UHS-I and their minimum recording speed is compliant with UHS speed class 1 and SD speed class 10.

Elgato launches the Thunderbolt SSD, a portable high-speed storage drive. Featuring an elegant, solid all-metal enclosure, the portable SSD is probably the fastest single-drive storage solution for your Mac. Thanks to Thunderbolt interface, Elgato’s SSD offers up to 270MB/s transfer rate, which is 3 times and 7 times faster than using FireWire 800 and USB 2.0, respectively.
